Oldie...but always in style...Please star if you liked this one. Thx.

A lawyer, a priest and a teacher were at a funeral of a tribal chief.
Before closing the coffin lid, the widow requested an offering of $100 from each to be laid in the casket, as the tradition demands.
The priest & the teacher both reluctantly laid their $100.
The lawyer then wrote out a check for $300, deposited it in the coffin and collected the $200 cash.

I know it's only been two games, but the Hawks do look much improved. Marvin Williams looks like he is ready to be an elite player and Joe Johnson is still awesome. The 1 point loss at Detroit gives me hope. Last year, they would've been totally crushed in the 4th quarter. What are you opinions?

I have seen a few different setups with a generator hooked up to a mechanical system like a stationary bike or a bike in a rack, etc. Whether the bike tire is pressed against the generator or a large flywheel was used the power output was limited to about 150 – 200 WATTS.

Taken the human component out of the equation, (I know that we have a biological limit as to how much horsepower we can transfer into the front end of the system), what limits the power output?

Increasing the RPM of the generator will increase the power output so why can’t the pedal system be geared up for higher RPM at the generator? (Were assuming that the generator has the capacity to generate more power than currently achieved).

There must be a logical reason that I just am not grasping at the moment otherwise someone would have already built this higher power pedal system.

The only thing I could think of is this is an issue of torque.

Having read many of the answers to dynamo questions I know there are some really helpful smart people out there and quite a few funny smart-alecs. Thank you to everyone who responds whether they are the former or the later.

Now for some coffee.

First of all I do write in mine. I bought a large one with normal paper instead of the flimsey paper so I could write in it. When I come across a verse that speaks to me, I write in the margin why it means something to me on that day and it's interesting to run into it again a couple of month's later.

However, last Sunday our Pastor was talking about holiness of the Bible and how we should respect God's word. He went on to say that you wouldn't leave a cup of coffee on your Bible or use it temporarily to hold open a window (true, I would not do those things) or you wouldn't scribble notes in it.

I don't think he would condemn people who do write their thoughts in their Bible, but it set me to wondering. I know a lot of people highlight passages and write cross-references in their Bibles, but do you feel it's wrong to write your thoughts in the margins?

Do you write your thoughts in your Bible? If you feel it is wrong to do this, please say so, I am interested. Thanks.

Once upon a time two explorers came upon a clearing in the jungle. In the clearing were growing many flowers and many weeds. One explorer says, "Some gardener must tend this plot." The other disagrees, "There is no gardener." So they pitch their tents and set a watch. No gardener is ever seen. "But perhaps he is an invisible gardener." So they set up a barbed-wire fence. They electrify it. They patrol with bloodhounds. (For they remember how H. G. Well's The Invisible Man could be both smelt and touched though he could not be seen.) But no shrieks ever suggest that some intruder has received a shock. No movements of the wire ever betray an invisible climber. The bloodhounds never give cry. Yet still the Believer is not convinced. "But there is a gardener, invisible, intangible, insensible, to electric shocks, a gardener who has no scent and makes no sound, a gardener who comes secretly to look after the garden which he loves." At last the Sceptic despairs, "But what remains of your original assertion? Just how does what you call an invisible, intangible, eternally elusive gardener differ from an imaginary gardener or even from no gardener at all?"

My daughter is 12 and I am caucasion and her father is african american / Indian, her hair is kinda curly, but not tight curl's, it's more poufy and fuzzy that anything but the feel and look is like caucasion hair. I used an Ogilve straightner in it last night but it's still really bushy. She's tired of using a flat iron on it to get it sleek and straight, is there another kind of product I could use to get it more straight. Thanks

We are a young couple with a toddler renting in central NJ.
Someone told my husband it would be a GREAT idea for us to get a co-op in the Edison/Iselin area. That we could get one for 80-130k and live in it for a year and then rent it out for a profit...and buy our single family home in a good school district at that point. (But then we will no longer be "first time buyers".
Everyone I know has told me stay away from co-ops. And that if they go belly up, we'll be screwed.
Please give me any advice or personal stories you may have about co-ops.
Thanks.
