thanks for the few positive responses, but i actually just made this up to piss people off.

still, it's good to know some republicans think that if someone really needs dental work they ought to be able to get it.

p.s. at the guy that said "you get what you pay for": do you really believe that the government would make me go to some weird dude named ivan that lives on crowbar alley and have him go to work on my chops with a rusty spoon? get real.

If I remember correctly, if you have more than a few teeth needing service, they will force you to have them all pulled and get dentures.
Beware.

Not a right-wing warning. I think it's disgraceful that this happens anywhere.
Dental coverage depends on the state you live in. Always has.

""In the past three years, several states reduced adult dental coverage under Medicaid for budget reasons, including Michigan, Minnesota, and Utah. In California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and other states, intense lobbying by dentists blocked similar moves.

The number of states with comprehensive dental benefits for adults under Medicaid dropped to seven in 2004, down from 14 in 2000, according to the American Dental Association.

In 2003, Minnesota added a $500 cap for dental services that don't include major procedures like extractions, saving about $1 million a year, said Brian Osberg, the state's assistant commissioner of health care.

As a result, some patients are choosing to have all their teeth pulled and replaced by dentures -- which Medicaid still covers -- rather than the less invasive procedures they can't afford, said Richard Diercks, executive director of the Minnesota Dental Association.""

""Adult dental coverage: Under Medicaid law, dental services for adults are classified as an "optional service." The most recent Federal report shows that dental services for adults were specifically listed as a covered service in the Medicaid State plan in 42 States in 1996.[6]

However, the fact that a State covers adult dental services does not mean that all services are covered. A State can select the dental services it wishes to cover for adults. In some States coverage is comprehensive, including regular cleanings, X-rays and dental repair similar to employer-sponsored dental insurance. In other States, coverage is limited to the immediate relief of pain and infection.

Under Medicaid law, coverage for dentures for adults is a separate optional coverage. The most recent information indicates that 34 States listed dentures for adults as a covered service in 1996. [7]

How does it feel to have your teeth worked on by the lowes quality doctors possible.
I have no insurance and go to a dental school and pay 1/2 what a normal dentist costs. My last wisdom tooth cost $150.

Because it is my responsibilty if I am able to to provide for myself. Some people are not able to. If you are one of these people it is perfectly ok to be on the public doles and my apologies for the my 1st sentance or 2.
If you are just lazy and do not care then I pity your lack of pride which shines through in your arrogance

The fact that you are proud to live other others is symbolic of what is wrong with this country. I have taken advantage of government assistance a couple times when things were down but was never proud of it let alone felt it was owed to me; I was appreciative that I had some help to get back on my feet so I could once again be productive. It is the you owe me mentality of the left that is sucking the legendary American work ethic out of our people and is destroying us

I am in the middle and lean to the right. I am truely glad you have gotten all the medical work done you needed and feel better. Looks like we have no reason to increase any thing to the current bill if it is working so well.

Basic medicare or welfare does not include the anesthesia or laughing gas that would normally lessen the pain of these extractions. Pitty. I think you will feel it worse than we do. Have a nice day.

Admitting that one has a problem is the first step towards recovery. Now that the process has been started, try applying the concept to that window peeping habit.

I think we are pretty used to it by now. Every society has its winners and losers.
I'm wondering who you are going to aim these types of questions at pretty soon. Seems all the good ones are slowly disappearing.
Have a good one.

Ok, I suppose. Supporting the not so well off is part of our societal obligations.

Have you no shame? I would never use "public assistance". I would get help from family, friends, and my church. That way it's voluntary, not stolen from my neighbors. I'm no thief.
