All right, I don't even know where to start with this one. Do I use F = -kx? What formulas should I use after that, or at all? This is frustrating me.

"A 10.0 g bullet is fired horizontally into a 108 g wooden block that is initially at rest on a frictionless horizontal surface and connected to a spring having spring constant 159 N/m. The bullet becomes embedded in the block. If the bullet-block system compresses the spring by a maximum of 72.0 cm, what was the speed of the bullet at impact with the block?"

I don't think I'm supposed to use F = -kx to find the speed of impact, as F = ma and I don't know the acceleration. This, to me, doesn't sound right. What do I do?

I've noticed that little cynical smart-asses are the ones taking over what's left of rock... now... could it be that this 'whatever' attitude this generation has taken is one of the things that has made it so difficult for a good set of bands to really make it?

I say it because audiences are what make or break a band and I've noticed that audiences today will crucify band for little unimportant things like wearing nice clothes that weren't purchased in a thrift store or the band not acting bored during interviews...

not that i will ever get an honest answer, but i just got another answer deleted, violation notice report. is some one trying to get my account suspended? i gave an answer in detail and did not say any bad word.
or is it that i am a Christian and there are so many non belivers who love picking on Christians. I have also been accused of being a Catholic hater, just because of the way i belive, could it have been one of them?
I have Catholic relitives and Catholic friends, that is how i know about the catholic church...i have also attended their services, more then once.

When I was a kid, we didn't have no money or food, so us kids had to eat rocks. Heck we were so poor my momma had to stand in line to get rock stamps. Sometimes, when we was standing on the sidewalk outside of Bob's TV and Radio store a watching the Johnny Carson show, I would kind of nibble on the granite facade.Now, I might sound like a bag of marbles when I walk past you, but hey, I can feed a family of six just by walking across a gravel parking lot. But my real question is this, where on this Y/A thing is the poor people section, I think it must be the hoity toity food eating people who won't let us have our own section. What do you think?

The power went out at my house this afternoon when I needed to leave for work, so I pulled the red manual release cord on my garage door and then opened it manually. After pulling my car out, I got out and shut the garage door from inside of the garage, and I thought the door would then “click” back into the garage door pulley. My problem is that when the garage door is completely shut, the pulley is still in front of the door when it is completely closed.

What should I do? My plan is, when I get home tonight, to manually open the door and then click my remote door opener so that the pulley will rise up and then (hopefully) re-engage the door. Is that a good idea or is there a better idea?

I see more people here screaming their heads off for the Socks than the Rockies. No matter what they do...winning the last 22 out of 23 games in amazing fashion, the Rockies still doesn't gain the respect of sports fans...why is this?

I mean, shouldn't you take that to be a sign that your marriage isn't supposed to be about children, as many of them are?

I would think couples facing infertility would realize they need to focus on other areas and grow their relationship based on those things. Not tear it apart based on what you can't do.

I'm asking this question in reaction to another one posted on here recently. Someone said she considered leaving her husband when she found out he was infertile! Yikes-there is no lemon law on spouses! :)
