A recent question claimed that the Jena Six showed the need for feminism.

And apparently the absurdity of this claim escapes her and others.

It would be equally ridiculous to use the erosion of abortion rights in many regions as a basis for donating to the NAACP.

That's not to say that there's not a lot of overlap between the causes, that there can't be cooperation, or that similar principles aren't behind shared, but if you're primarily concerned about abortion rights, donate to NARAL or NOW, not the NAACP.

Similarly, events in Louisiana suggest the continuing need for groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the NAACP.

I shouldn't really call it my "visitation" weekend, we have 50/50 shared custody right now. It is a temporary order, we go back to court at the end of this month, and neither of us has a copy of our current order (it was supposed to come by mail from his lawyer, and neither of us can get a copy from her), so if it "should" be in there, I have no way of telling.

I have to work on Sunday, for 6 hours, even though this is my weekend (we alternate) to spend with my 8 m/o son. My mother is coming up to spend the day with us, and will watch him while I am at work. My ex doesn't like my mother and has 1001 excuses why she should not be alone with him. They are all b.s. and I have no reason to believe my son shouldn't be with my mother, but my ex says he's coming to my house and taking my son while I am at work. Can he legally do that? I know for a fact that the court order is supposed to say we will alternate weekends, and that this is my weekend. Can I stop him? How?!

I'm looking for fabrics that are no longer needed, out of date or just not wanted no more ready to be tossed out. All sizes, colors, prints, scraps and any type. Examples of things that I would use the fabric for: Quilts, curtains, pillows, place mats, things for a babies room and upholstering my dining room chairs and more.
This is for anyone that has extra fabric laying around interior decorators that have extra or old prints; shop owners that do custom drapery, upholstery and even bridal shops. Any left over material or even out dated fabric or scraps all are welcomed and appreciated. If near my area willing to drive, if it's to far I'll pay shipping and handling. Remember if the fabric was going straight to the trash and you don't want it at all and you are willing to give it to me then it must be FREE! Thank you again.

I injured my back (not at work), doctor wrote me out for 5 days then released me back to work on light duty. I am in the nursing assistant field in a local skilled nursing facility. However, when I took my doctor's note to my employer, they informed me since I was not hurt on the job, they could not give me light duty. Can they deny me work even though I am released to work on light duty? I live in North Carolina and I know this is an at will state.

If my employer insists they can't give me light duty, will my short term disability insurance still pay me if I have been released for light duty but my employer won't do it?

Advice from good cooks, please: I made a fruit cake which was lovely. I think that the cake would be nice made with apples instead of the raisins and cherries in the recipe. Could I just substitute the same amount of apples, or would I need to adjust the amount of apples, or other ingredients to have it turn out ok? Thanks.

Ok, I keep dreaming about water, especially beaches and lakes. Usually the water is calm and really clear and blue. But, I took a nap this afternoon and I had a dream about the beach again, but this time, it was night and the water was really muddy.
