The Church is not anti-scientific. It has supported scientific endeavors for centuries. During Galileo’s time, the Jesuits had a highly respected group of astronomers and scientists in Rome. In addition, many notable scientists received encouragement and funding from the Church and from individual Church officials. Many of the scientific advances during this period were made either by clerics or as a result of Church funding.

Many people wrongly believe Galileo proved heliocentricity. He could not answer the strongest argument against it, which had been made nearly two thousand years earlier by Aristotle: If heliocentrism were true, then there would be observable parallax shifts in the stars’ positions as the earth moved in its orbit around the sun. Galileo did not prove the theory by the Aristotelian standards of science in his day.

What's next? Head to toe covered? Are these oppressors just bad Americans who despise freedom? Or is it something more sinister?

I am in 11th grade and my high school changed my program card completely and gave me new teachers for all my classes. I was very very very comfortable with my old teachers because the way they used to teach, nothing in the world could make a human understand anything like they made me understand. However the new teachers are the exact opposite. So I went to my school programmer and he told me he will not do it. My guidance said she will not do it. I went to six other people who don't even bother to hear my story. I was telling them that I want my old schedule back because i am actually a student who goes to school to learn and not just let the teacher pass me without me doing any work. There are other kids in the class that I want to remain in who goof around they whole period, they got to stay and not me. Tomorrow I will give it a last try and if they don't do it I will drop out of school. Can I get a lawyer before that to sue the school for not providing me the classes I wanted?

I'm writing a persuasive essay that's FOR the separation of Church and State that is in the constitution, not the overblown stuff we see today.

I was wondering if anyone could help me get my hands on some statistics (based on prayer in school, crime rate, morality, etc) and any articles based on it. They can be for or against it, though I'm arguing a more moderate approach than many other people usually do.

Please, just stick the to question.

The LDS (Brigham Young University Press) published a book called "History of the Church" by Mormon historian BH Roberts, which is the official history of the LDS. ISBN 0842504826

Joseph Smith: Murderer

"Joseph reached around the door, and shot his gun into the hall. Continual discharges of gunshots came into the room... When Hyrum was shot, Joseph exclaimed, "Oh dear, brother Hyrum!" and opening the door a few inches he discharged his six shooter in the stairway, two or three barrels of which missed fire." (History of the Church, Vol.6, Ch.34, p.618)

"Joseph Smith shot the pistol six successive times; only three of the barrels, however, were discharged. I afterwards understood that two or three were wounded by these shots, TWO OF WHOM, DIED." (History of the Church, Vol.7, Ch.9, p.103) Joseph Smith died after murdering these men in the Carthage jail in Hancock, Illinois on 27 June 1844.

Well my daughters a week old and earlier today my mom offered to take my daughter for a couple of hours ( sounds great right) so i can get a little bit of sleep. The thing is if my mom takes her for a few hours she wants to take her to her friends house. But her friends's house is extremly dirty ( i dont mean to sound mean). Her friend's house has ants & stuff. I REALLY dont want her to take my daughter there but then again my mom is really exited about it. How should i politely tell my mom thanks but no thanks. I dont know if it matters but i am only 15 ( dont worry im still in school) & my mom is kind of strict. But she's MY daughter & i dont want her to get sick. Any advice would be great thanks.
Oh my mom & her other friends have tried to tell the other friend ( the one with the dirty house) that she needs to clean her house but does she listen? No.. but she is a wonderful lady.

With all this pollution and green house gases etc. I was wondering if anything of this nature escaped the earth's atmosphere and got into space - or does it get trapped by our gravitational field.

about getting pregnant and she went into the fact that I had a very irregular period and was the first doctor to tell me that I could possibly have something called pollycystic ovary syndrome. She didn't diagnose me but she did say it was a possibility and in that case would be a little more difficult for me to become pregnant. I'm only 22 and we weren't expecting a pregnancy with out first child but now that we actually are trying all these things are coming up that are starting to worry me. The doctor did say that loosing as little as 10 lbs could make a world of difference in trying to become pregnant if i did indeed have polycystic ovary syndrome but I'm still a little depressed because of the thought of it being a possibility I might have a hard time getting pregnant ever again. Has anyone ever dealt with this? Any good advice. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks to all in advance.

I received a medical bill from out of state and then less than 3 weeks later (19 days to be exact) I received a 'Second and Final Notice' saying that if not paid immediately it would be placed with an agency. 19 days doesn't seem like a lot of time before getting a collection agency threat - is this legal?
