Joseph Smith: Murderer
"Joseph reached around the door, and shot his gun into the hall. Continual discharges of gunshots came into the room... When Hyrum was shot, Joseph exclaimed, "Oh dear, brother Hyrum!" and opening the door a few inches he discharged his six shooter in the stairway, two or three barrels of which missed fire." (History of the Church, Vol.6, Ch.34, p.618)
"Joseph Smith shot the pistol six successive times; only three of the barrels, however, were discharged. I afterwards understood that two or three were wounded by these shots, TWO OF WHOM, DIED." (History of the Church, Vol.7, Ch.9, p.103) Joseph Smith died after murdering these men in the Carthage jail in Hancock, Illinois on 27 June 1844.

Jesus Christ said, “You will not murder, you will not commit adultery, you will not steal, you will not bear false witness. Honour thy father and thy mother, and love your neighbour as yourself.” (Matthew 19:18-19, Mark 10:19, Luke 18:20, Romans 13:9)
“And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, ‘Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.’” (Matthew 26:51-56)

Joseph Smith: Adulterer
The LDS has the largest genealogical database (www.familysearch.org). A search for Joseph Smith will show that he married twenty-four women, many of which were already married to other men.
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/AF/individual_record.asp?recid=7762167&lds=0®ion=-1®ionfriendly=&frompage=99
The Mormons (both men and women) practiced polygamy, and the LDS shows that Joseph Smith married these women while they were still married to other men: Prescendia Lathrop Huntington, Sylvia Sessions, Mary Rollins, Sarah Ann Whitney, Helen Mar Kimball, and many others.
Moses said, “You shall not commit adultery.” (Exodus 20:14)
Jesus Christ said, “You have heard that it was said by them of old time, you will not commit adultery: 5:28 But I say unto you, that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28)

Joseph Smith: False Prophet
Joseph Smith said that the Mormon temple would be built in the city of Independence in Missouri within his lifetime, (D&C 84:2-5) but Smith died before this ever happened. On 14 February 1835, Joseph Smith said Jesus Christ was coming in 36 years, (History of the Church, Volume 2, page 182) but this did not happen.
On April 17 1838, Joseph Smith said that David W Patten would perform a mission the following Spring (D&C 114:1). The truth is Patten died before the next Spring and never performed a mission. Joseph Smith made many more false prophecies, but it only takes ONE false prophecy to prove he is a liar.
The Bible says that if a prophet says something in the name of the Lord and it does not happen, he is a false prophet (Deut. 18:20-22)
If you follow a sinner, you will have the same end as a sinner.

You're one of those sick twisted people that would agree that a person is at fault for shooting an intruder in his home.
Let's lock your religious leader in a cage and then have a mob come after him. Let's see what happens to your precious pastor/reverend/whatever you call him/her when s/he is backed into a corner.
If you don't believe self defense is a God given right, then you are sick.

>Joseph Smith murderer
You're kidding, right? He fired into a mob of 200+ men who were shooting at HIM, and you have the audacity to call HIM a murderer???
NO court has ever convicted a man of murder who shot in SELF DEFENSE, which this was a CLEAR case of. Any idiot could see that.
>adulterer
You dont commit adultery if you are married to the person you are having sexual relations with, and there is no reason to believe that Joseph Smith had sexual relations with all the women he was sealed to.
There is nothing in the Bible that outright condemns polygamy. Many of the Biblical prophets were polygamists.
>Joseph Smith said that the Mormon temple would be built in the city of Independence in Missouri within his lifetime, (D&C 84:2-5) but Smith died before this ever happened.
No where does it say that it will be in Joseph's lifetime. It says THIS GENERATION. But what does that mean? Read Matthew 24:29-34, and ask What generation was He talking about? Yes, Joseph
>On 14 February 1835, Joseph Smith said Jesus Christ was coming in 36 years, (History of the Church, Volume 2, page 182) but this did not happen.
Did he say that? Really? I think you should read it again and really study it. God told him, IF you live to be 85, you will see the face of the Son of man or something like that. He said several times after that, that the second coming would NOT be BEFORE Joseph turned 85. That's ALL he said. And since he didn't even live to see 50, it's all moot.
>On April 17 1838, Joseph Smith said that David W Patten would perform a mission the following Spring (D&C 114:1). The truth is Patten died before the next Spring and never performed a mission.
Read it again! It did NOT prophecy that David Patten WOULD go on a mission. It was not really a PROPHECY at all, but a COMMAND for Patten to get his affairs in order so taht he COULD serve a mission. The only thing that could be considered a prophecy is taht tere WOULD be a mssion leaving when it said.
>Joseph Smith made many more false prophecies, but it only takes ONE false prophecy to prove he is a liar.
Nathan prophecied that Samson would bring down the Philistines, but he never did. Oh, yes, a few, but not ALL of them. Was Nathan a false prophet?
Jonah was to prophecy to the city of Ninevah, that tey WOULD BE destroyed, no if's and's or but's. Is it any wonder he was angry with God when God changed His mind and spared them?
The Bible says that if a prophet says something in the name of the Lord and it does not happen, he is a false prophet (Deut. 18:20-22)
>If you follow a sinner, you will have the same end as a sinner.
We follow Christ. Was He a sinner?

By your reasoning then Jonah was a false prophet. Jonah proclaimed to the people of Nineveh that they would all be destroyed. And were the people of Nineveh destroyed, as Jonah told them they were going to be??? Was God therefor a liar, or was Jonah a false Prophet??? Neither one. God did not lie. And Jonah, like Joseph Smith was a true prophet. Prophecies often contain conditionals, and if those prophecy's conditionals are met, then the bad things that the Prophets might be warning about do not happen, because the people involved meet that conditional. Joseph Smith predicted World War, and that the Civil War would turn into a World War. This never happened, at least not to the extent it was predicted in LDS scriptures. But then again after this revelation was received from God, Joseph Smith did everything he could to prevent a World War that would destroy most of mankind, before the second coming of Jesus Christ. Firstly Joseph Smith ran for President of the United States, and he proclaimed that Black people should be freed, by selling land in the West under the homestead act, and by so doing raise enough money to free all the slaves. Additionally Joseph Smith personally and definitively cursed in the name of God, one of the biggest believers in and promoters of slavery, namely Stephen Douglas. Stephen Douglas and Lincoln became famous because of a series of debates called the Lincoln Douglas debates. In these debates Douglas vociferously defended the indefensible institution of slavery. Douglas wanted to be President of the United States, and so did Lincoln. It was Lincoln who became President of the North, and Jefferson Davis who became President of the South. Jefferson Davis proved to be completely incompetent. Certainly Douglas the foaming mouthed Anti-Mormon and slavery promoter did not become President of either the North or the South. Rather than a sneaky and clever worm-tongue Anti-Mormon Douglas to lead the South, the incompetent Jefferson led the cause of Black slavery, instead. There is always more to the story to every Prophecy, and the Words of God must certainly be fulfilled. But the North and the South finally discontinued the Civil War. So like Nineveh in the Bible, the people of the United States repented, and threw down their arms, and the dire consequences of not repenting did not happen. The fact that Mormon elders had fanned out through the United States and promoted peace over meaningless and insane war, did not hurt matters any either. God gives a revelation to a Prophet sometimes as a warning of what could happen when people don't repent, so that people will stop doing what will in the end completely and utterly destroy them This particular revelation that Joseph Smith received from God, is no exception from the historical precedence in the Bible, in that regard. If you want to know if Joseph Smith was a true Prophet, live the commandments of Jesus Christ completely and without reservation, and then pray about it. And God will answer you because God is perfect, and God does not want His Children destroyed. Trust God, simple as that. God bless.

"Praise to the Man"
1. Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.
[Chorus]
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
2. Praise to his mem’ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins,
Plead unto heav’n while the earth lauds his fame.
3. Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.
4. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know “Brother Joseph” again.
This is a song written in loving memory of the Prophet Joseph Smith. I believe every word. I know he was truly a prophet of God. So called "history" of the church can certainly be swayed one way or the other. God knows what happened, I don't have to worry about it. I know the gospel is true, nothing else matters.
P.S. I would like to see anyone who is being shot at by hundreds of men, and they themselves holding a gun, not fight back. Any person who says they wouldn't is either lying or an idiot.

Joseph Smith was defending himself and those that were in jail with him. Before going to jail the last time he had been tarred and feathered. When he was dragged from his home he was caring for his infant twin sons who were sick. These children died because of being left near an open door. Would you not defend yourself and your family.
As for having more than one wife did not Abraham, Issac, and other great prophets in the Bible have more than one wife. If it was alright for prophets to have multiple wives back than Heavenly Father would not change his mind. There did come a time that polygamy was taken away.

I didn't bother reading most of your question since I know you are bending the truth. He shot back because he was being attacked and shot at. Would you not do that? Would you just let yourself be shot and killed without trying to save yourself? he was killed because people didn't like him, which is no reason to die. He did nothing against the law. He didn't mock people. He in no way hated people. He was just trying to run a church. Is that a crime?

Murder? These people shot his brother in face. They had tarred and feathered him. And now they were coming to kill him. They threatened also the jailor and his family who were not Mormons.
False prophet huh? Read the Book of Mormon, follow the principals that were set within and you will know for yourself why we follow.
