I recenlty inherited the home where I have been living all my life and taking care of an elderly relative, I don't have to pay rent, but I do have to pay all the other expenses: insurance, water, sewer, trash, etc. Problem is, the neighborhood is run-down, and has gotten bad,. In fact there was a huge fight of about 15 people a few doors down TODAY. Also, someone got shot as a result of a huge brawl , down the street just a few months ago. Cars race through here on a regular basis, radios thumping and blaring. I am absolutely sick of it and am ready to move. I can get small apartment for about 1-200.00 month more than I am already paying in monthly expenses
( insurance, water, sewer, etc). A couple of my friends think I should stay cause I have " free rent" and property ownership, but, I value my safety, and I don't feel safe in this neighborhood at all, and am longing for a quiet area without all the radios thumping and gunfire. . What's your opinion? Thanks!

So, I have this job that pays marginally well, & to be honest; I do not actually have to work hard at all. However, after 17 years, I am at the same salary I was 5-6 years ago. Plus, there exists a "ceiling" on how much I can earn. At which, I am at the max, & have been for YEARS!
So what do you cool cats think?

I have a cottage (or pyramid) roof. I don't know what the rise or height is (and it's a two storey house). I only know the outside dimension (all sides are 20' ...800 sq ft house). I want to estimate the cost of the steel/aluminum sheets so I have enough money saved.

Let's not lie, Michigan couldn't beat a community college right now. What will Ann Arbor be like after the Notre Dame loss?

Will Lloyd finally just leave campus with dignity then?

Where were you when the world stopped turning on that September day? Out in the yard with your wife and children working on some stage melee? Did you stand there in shock in the sight of that black smoke rising against the blue sky? Did you shout out in anger? Did you fear for your neighbor? Or did you just sit down and cry? Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones and pray for the ones you don’t know? Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble and sob for the ones left below? Did you burst out with pride for the red white and blue and for the heroes who died just doing what they do? Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer? And look at yourself for what really matters? Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day? Teaching a class full of innocent children? Did you feel guilty cause you’re a survivor? In a crowded room did you feel alone? Did you call up your mother just to tell her that you love her? Did you dust off that Bible at home? Did you open your eyes and hoped that it never happened? Did you close your eyes and not go to sleep? Did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages? Did you speak to some stranger on the street? Did you go to a church and hold hands with a stranger? Or stand in line and give your own blood? Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family - and thank God that you had somebody to love? Now I am just a singer of simple songs and not a political man. I watch CNN but I am not sure I can tell you the difference between Iraq and Iran. But I know Jesus and I talk to God. And I remember this from when I was young - faith hope and love are some good things He gave us. And the greatest is love.

If we pull out, The terrorists will cut off our foreign oil supply. Gas prices will soar. And has anyone thought about the soldiers. I mean, ask then what they think? Because the people at home are not the ones fighting in a war.

I am upset but perhaps I am being unreasonable. He says it is compelling and a form of entertainment but I feel hurt and afraid. He has been to treatment for coke a few times. He hasn't had a slip in over five months. I am afraid it will lead to something else and am strangely jealous as well. Any ideas>

He has agreed not to communicate with the strangers since in April that is how he found the supplier of the cocaine (through craigslist personals).

He is a very charming wonderful man. This is just eating me alive, or rather I am letting it.

I am a ninth grader, and I go to a very diverse school. Most of the teachers are Christians, and they get annoyed if a kid uses Jesus's name in vain.
They will ask, sarcastically, "Are you praying?"
One teacher even made a student apologize to Jesus, although the student was an athiest.

Am I the only one who gets sick of this? I think teachers should just ignore it, and accept the fact that we don't all have the same beliefs.

The next time a teacher lectures me for using their lord's name in vain, I think I might just tell them I'm a Wiccan to shut them up.

What do you think of this all?
