For everyone against illegal aliens, I have a question. I'm not saying I'm for or against them, I want to consider all viewpoints and formulate an opinion. So, here's my question. If we don't legalize the illegal workers, who is going to pay for our retirement? We are now paying social security contributions so that the baby boomers (and older) can enjoy a nice comfortable retirement, but we have no hope of this for ourselves as there are not enough younger workers to support our retirement. The wild card in all this is the illegals. If they were made legal, then they and their children (and they tend to have more children than average) would be paying into the system for years to come, funding our retirement. As things are, illegals don't contribute to social security. Could legalizing the illegals be the solution to the social security funding crisis?
I'm a legal immigrant, and realize this is an inflammatory issue! My question takes a practical, not ethical, viewpoint.
