Because everyone knows that national health insurance isn't socialized medicine. Yet all of the GOP presidential hopefuls are repeating that "scare term" over and over. The conclusion is that they are pinning their hopes on the Party-proven notion that the American public is an easily frightened constituency, and they intend to repeat scary words and phrases over and over, to beat people into becoming faceless, mindless ballots.

It is painfully clear that each candidate is bought and paid for, and simply reading the cue cards for the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries. I believe, however, that Americans have grown wise to such typical GOP scare tactics, that they will refuse to be pushed around once again by false fears and rather, they will seek out and investigate the TRUTH about what's going on with health care in America.

Please come join us at http://www.myspace.com/onecarenoworg to learn about and discuss a national health insurance solution for America!

A new al-Qaida video threatens embassies with deliberate attack.

It is a fundamental rule of civilized people that has existed for centuries that embassies are sacrosanct and cannot be deliberately attacked. (Please note the key word here is "deliberately")

The Prophet Muhammed, blessings and peace be upon him, himself sent and received ambassadors, both protecting those he received and expecting that those he sent would be respected. Muslim rulers throughout history have sent and received ambassadors and observed the rules of diplomacy.

al-Qaida's threat therefore proves that they are neither civilized nor true Muslims i.e. they are barbarians and apostates.

What is the cause of this and what should the world's reaction be?

I had a dream about a year ago. It was a very abstract dream so it's hard to explain! I was in bed - or else surrounded by white fluffy clouds - with The One, and by that I mean of course my one true love (who I obviously haven't met yet since I'm single!). But I'm not even sure he was really physically there as I couldn't actually touch him and couldn't see what he looked like, it was more that it was his presence, and that presence was engulfing me and it was sooooooo peaceful! And even when I woke up it was like, for a couple of minutes, he was still there! It was such a good feeling. This sounds a bit silly but to me it was as if it was the unconcious mind of my true love coming to reasure me that he's out there and we'll be together one day. What do you think??

OK, now that I have your attention, here's my point. When we say "the government should pay for [whatever]," some don't seem to realize that it's WE who pay for that, not some faceless entity.

Here's my modest proposal: let's match up the donors and the recipients! If part of my taxes go to welfare, Medicaid, etc., give me the names and addresses of the people I'm helping. And give them mine.

And expand it to other areas: for defense, tell me what my money bought, and for whom. If I helped supply soldiers, tell me who. If it bought equipment, tell me what, and from what company. Foreign aid: tell me what country. "Corporate welfare" (although I have yet to see anyone here demonstrate that cash payments, as opposed to tax deductions, are given to corporations): what company? And so on.

Yes, it's crazy. And any breakdown would be time-consuming and arbitrary.

My point is that if we did something like this, maybe the money would be more wisely spent.

Thoughts?
