I saw this article "Did stardust trigger snowball Earth?" originally from NATURE:

"Our planet may have frozen over in the past as it drifted though giant dust clouds in space. The result of the dust-bath would have been an almost complete overcoat of ice for the world, according to a new theory." I thought that ice would burn up on atmosphere entry and burn up the planet, but someone said the massive ice was a "heat sink". Is there any way to calculate if say, it was a billion cubic miles of ice caving in on earth's atmosphere, if that would be enough of a "heat sink" to offset the friction of entry?

I have gap insurance, got into an accident, and totaled my car (i ran into a wall). The Adjuster just told me my car is totaled and will be sending me out a check for the value of the car.. but i'm upsidedown almost about 8k on the car.. what are the procedures for gap insurance?? How long is the process? Am i able to get another car now while in this process? THANK YOU!!

We have a water heater in our basement that has what appears to be an overflow hose attached to it that leads to a drain in the floor. This hose seems to run more than a little bit. Not constantly but I'd say at least once a day for an hour. I'm concerned that we are wasting a lot of water. I guess I'm just trying to find out if this is normal or not. and if it isn't normal if anyone has any suggestions as to how to curtail the problem without calling and ~expensive~ plumber.

i have this nagging thought in the back of my head that makes me want to doubt the bible sometimes. am i turning into an atheist? the more i listen to what people have to say, and what science has to say, the more, according to what i just read from someone, "silly the bible looks". can i have some kind of reassurance here? eg. read all those questions on the Big Bang

I have founded a small group of volunteers in Mexico. We are currently working on helping horses with food and medical care in a small club. Where does our loyalty stand? Everytime I turn on the news I'm hearing or reading about this Vick story about dog fighting. But our laws are so relaxed on sex offenders and rapist. PETA is one of the strongest activist group for animals but if they used all that effort on humans maybe this country wouldn't be in the Hell hole it's in.
