Tough Interview
At the end of a job interview, the head of human resources asks the young engineer fresh out of MIT, "What starting salary were you looking for?"

The engineer decides to shoot for the moon. "I’m thinking in the range of $125,000 a year or so, depending on the benefits package."

"Hmm," says the interviewer. "Well, what would you say to five weeks’ vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, a retirement fund with company matching to 50 percent of salary, and a company car leased every two years–say, a Porsche?"

The engineer gapes and says, "Wow! Are you kidding?"

"Yeah," replies the interviewer, "but you started it."

I've just tried to book a journey between London and Edinburgh and was faced with about 30 different fare options, double that if you include the "buy two singles option", all ranging from about £35.00 return to nearly £400.00. Why????

I was at a family event yesterday and saw a child tell his mother about something bad his brother was doing. The mother laid into him for tattling and then went to deal with the brother's misdeed. I've seen this situation many times in my life where the tattler gets in trouble for tattling and I really don't understand why that's wrong. In this case, the mother punished the tattler, but then made use of his information. When I was a kid, there was an old lady in our neighborhood who would call your mom if she saw you smoking on the corner or hanging out with the wrong crowd or whatever and then when you got home, you'd really get it. So why is it that kids are taught not to tattle, but adults are encouraged to speak up when they see someone doing something wrong or acting suspiciously?

Willy Loman from "Death of a Salesman" is one of the most memorable characters from modern literature. Do you see him as a proud man following the American Dream; doing whatever he has to to ensure his family's future? Or do you see him as a sad, pathetic man; a fool with only the delusions of his son's success to keep him alive?

Hello all! I pray that you are all doing well today.
Fresh flowers from the garden, bouquets of roses, tulips and daisies. They are a pleasant surprise when someone recieves them. They bring a happiness and bright cheerfulness wherever they are displayed. But, their beauty is short-lived. In a week or so they droop and fade and have to be thrown away.
Many of the things around us grow older and lose their usefulness. And we aren't very old before we realize how fragile and how brief our own lives are. Where do we find stability and lasting truth?
We can find it in God's unchanging Word. His Word will remain when all else fails. There will never be a time when we cannot put our total faith in His Word. That truth applies today as it did centuries ago and will apply for our children and grandchildren in years to come.
Dear friends, memorize it, meditate on it. When life seems shaky, reading God's Word renews our strength.
