We go to church every Sunday, but I wouldn't say that I am your every day Christian. I have come to believe things that are not standard Christian believes based on reading the Bible as well as many books about the Bible and my own personal experiences. I am worried that as I am teaching my daughter about who God and Jesus are to me that if she repeats these things people might tell her that we are both going to hell. (For example, I don't believe in hell or the devil and I don't believe that Jesus was literally the son of God or that he died for our sins or that he then resurrected.) I believe that everyone is entitled to believe what they want to believe and their everyone has their own spiritual journey where they discover these beliefs. I think diversity is wonderful and vital for the existence of the human race. Whatever my daughter believes is fine with me. I just don't want people to scare my daughter into thinking that we are going to burn in hell.

somebody said have i no emotions as i never cry.. well i dont think i do.. i can really upset my partner she will cry her eyes out infront of me and i feel nothing i just stare at her im not proud of this its the way i am i feel i have no emotions at all.. when she had an ectopic pregnancy and lost the baby, tubes and ovarys she was heartbroken and couldnt stop crying.. i on the other hand felt nothing this cant be normal

I have recipe for tomato sauce in crockpot but notice that it comes out more watery- not as tomato tasting. Shoudl I be leaving the lifd a little ajar when i cook the sauce? Please advise on about whether lid should be covered, uncovered, a little off to one side? please explain exact cooking directions thanks

My grandfather wants a dog, saying he can take care of it, but my mom and I don't think he will be able to. My mom has a problem with her shoulder that is very painful. My grandfather will only allow her to help him at home. She has made it clear she is not able to help him take care of a dog, and will not do so. I am busy with work and school, and honestly I can't stand animal messes, and he probably would not let me help anyway. He insists he can take care of the dog. We think its best to discourage him from getting a dog, rather than my mom, with her own health problems, or me who cannot deal with animal messes, eventually getting stuck taking care of a pet that we did not want. We all live within a few minutes of each other but not in the same house.We also do want Grandpa to overexert himself with the dog, or the dog to be neglected. Before you call us selfish, keep in mind that my mom put her whole life on hold for 2 years to care for him when he was very sick.

I am tired of people's ignorance in this section! This section was not made for you everyone to argue over who's faith is right and who's is wrong. In this section I see christians stereotyping atheists and Atheists are just egging them on and then complaining about it! there are questions here like "Why do Christians think they are better than everyone else" when WE DON'T! And Christians, God might want all of us to believe in him but he also wants us all to get along. And since so many atheists on this site can't grow up then you will have to and just ignore them! Their jabs at our faith MEAN NOTHING! So just leavo those questions alone. And atheists, why do you feel a need to attack christians here? You need to GROW UP! Hopefully this will make a bit of a difference.

Whether or not you believe human-kind is responsible for global warming, I am sure many of you have noticed really bad evidence to back up claims on both sides. How can we help people to learn about what good scientific facts are and how to use these relevant facts in a discussion?

Here are some poor examples I have seen:

"There were once trees in the Sahara"
"I have noticed it has gotten hotter out so it must be due to global warming."
"Because the scientists agree on it, it must make it true"
"There is a hole in the ozone layer so it must be causing global warming"
"The ice sheets are melting, so it must be global warming"
"We are so insignificant that we couldn't possibly be causing global warming"

Do you have any more bad examples? and how can we help people use credible evidence to back up their claims?

A guy walks into a bar and sees a big jar crammed full of money, at least ,000 worth. He asks the bartender, "What's up with the jar?"

The bartender replies, "It's the prize for the contest we're having."

"Contest? What contest?"

"First," the bartender says, pointing to the biggest guy in the place, "you have to go over there and lay him out with one punch. Then, down in the store room, there's a pit bull with a gold molar and you have to extract it. Finally, across the street is an 80 year old lady who hasn't had an orgasm for 65 years... you need to give her one. Do all that and the money is yours!"

"Okay," the guy says, "I can do that." He takes a deep breath and summons up all his strength. He goes over to the big guy who the bartender pointed out, takes a mighty swing and lays him out with just one punch. Feeling good, the guy then proceeds down to the store room. For the next half hour, all that can be heard is barking, screaming, growling, and intense shrieks of pain. At last, the guy returns, though somewhat bloodied and with his clothes torn to pieces.

"Okay, now," says the guy, "where's that lady with the gold tooth?"

I seem to get at least 20 calls a day. Cant stay on messenger too long before I end up chatting away to her. I feel a little cornered. Is it normal to be contacted this often. I've never met someone who can still call me this often after 3 months. How often do you girls call your bf's ?

People who believe can get so easily riled up by us Atheists, why would they care?

Why do they not truly follow their god's ways if they believe him to be real? If I knew for a fact god was real I'd do everything in my power not to concern myself with this world, knowing full real my real home is in Heaven.

So why don't we see more godly people who believe?

I have a 94 chevy astro van...coming home one day the speedometer stopped working and the transmission would not go into 3rd gear and transmission fluid was leaking all under the van. We changed the speed sensor, filter, and gasket. It did not seem to fix the issue so we took it to have a mechanic look at it. He took off the speed sensor to check it and put it back stating that there was to much fluid in there and that the 3rd gear has gone out and that we needed to get a used one and replace it. We bought the used transmission and then drove it up to his shop today to be waitting on him on Monday. The transmission was shifting fine and the speedometer is also working properly. I need some advice on what to do...Go ahead and put the used transmission in or no? Does it sound like we fixed the issue? Please someone help with some advice.
