The inital start to the war was a great success...plus getting Saddam was terrific. However, controlling all the different cultures and groups in Iraq were not predicted well. The media does a terrible job reporting things going wrong...and going right. Personally, I think we should give the Iraqi's about 12 months to get trained and ready. Then say "Adios" and wish them luck. It really is Iraq's fault, Not US, for the violence. There is no strong leadership. Plus, there was a civil war in Iraq before we got there between the Sunni, Shiites and Kurds.

This is a difficult subject but I am going to respond to this as nice as I can.

9-11 occurred. We were told it was Bin Laden that caused the attack. So Bin Laden is in Afghanistan which is where we went. Well somehow, we ended up in Iraq after Saddam Hussein who just so happened to try to kill Bush's father in 1993. No weapons of mass destruction were found.

I do not like this war because this is a cultural and civil war also.

I have asked this question to alot of people and it is: "how would we like it if someone came into our country and told us how we had to run it?"

I said when 911 occurred that we need to close our borders and take care of our own but the US people don't fully know about the involvement of oil and trade that we have with other middle eastern countries.

Yes I said also don't let this turn into a Viet Nam war and I fear it has. We will have military people return with vast physical and mental issues.

I process clothes for a well known thrift store and I have hardly seen any clothes that are made in the USA.

We have been also told that we are there to prevent terrorists coming into our country. Well the recent JFK incident tells us that they are here and will be despite being in Iraq. I personally feel that these incidents will increase for it is the terrorists way of saying, "as long as you are messing with our countries...we will mess with yours."

Unfortunately, we aren't the super power that we thought we were or else 911 would have never occurred.

Also I talk to people that have family members in the war...they offer them like $15,000 and I am sure it varies for them to stay there longer.

I am sorry that we are all having to debate the right and wrong of this war. I don't think and I feel strongly that whether you are a liberal, conservative, democrat or republican should be an issue in making decisions on this war. It is an embarrassment to our country that ones can't do what is right for our government without egos, greed and power coming into the decision making process.

God Bless Us All!!

Lot of people don't realize how complex this Iraq thing has become. Iraq now have Shiite gov. Iran is Shiite. So is Hamas, Hezbollah. So it is possible in future Iraq could make decisions that favor our enemies like Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and others.

Plus coalition force made some bad decisions that led to what we see now in Iraq. They decided to deBathify Iraqi gov. Getting rid of every Bath party members in Iraq gov. This really helped to increase Sunni, Shiite tensions. We also disbanded Iraqi army. Another mistake. All these decisions helped Iraqis turn on each other.

The war also has some fundamental flaws. We should have went after al qaedas around the world and dealt with Israel/Palestine conflicts before going into Iraq. If Iraq is magnet for al qaeda why go there first? Al Qaeda is spread through out the world. We do not have to invade a country in order to go after Al Qaeda. We did not have to invade Iraq to go after Al Qaeda. It was mistake to think we have to attack Iraq in order to fight Al Qaeda.

Plus no one can say for sure if Iraq war is benefiting the US or Al Qaeda more. Iraq may be democratic nation, but Al Qaeda is using Iraq as one big training camp and for recruitment purpose. There is no clear winners or no clear losers in this war.

But one thing for sure. Iraq war made Al Qaeda more coherent and it brought anti US people together. And the US citizens have became more divided than ever. The war divided our nation while uniting, strengthening our enemies.

SNAFU from the beginning. Poorly planned, under manned, ineptly handled and bungled from the beginning. It seems like we did not have a clear reason for going in, no understanding of the culture and history of the reason. and a lot of assumptions on what was supposed to happen.,
We did not anticipate creating a political vacuum leading to a sectarian civil where we are the prime targets and occupiers.
And now we are trapped in a situation we can't get out of easily. It was a fool's errand.

The Iraqi miltary and police have doubled from last year and may double again in May of next year which would bring it to wear the U.S. thinks that the Iraqis can take care of themselves. 4 of 18 providences have been turned over to the Iraqi government and 17 out of 18 providences have the Iraqis controling their own. I would say that the U.S. and its allies are still on course of handing back all 18 providences in May 2008.

We need to stay in the Middle East to help them "get back on their feet" and to kick the terrorists out.

Terrorism IS a problem. Just take a look at the JFK Bomb Plot, and the numerous others.

and the London Bombing, the Madrid Bombing, etc.

The same objectives could have been realized with a well placed assassination's bullet into Sadam's noggin.

When it all started I said that I hoped it wouldn't turn into another Vietnam, but I wasn't holding my breath.

I hate being right all the time...

We need to retreat, the sooner or better. It's not a criticism of our troops, but the administration that sent them there.
