The first Creation story in the first chapter of Genesis depicts the Semitic god EL creating everything. It is a modified version of an older myth that depicts EL and Ashtarte creating different gods over the course of seven days. Each god is given rule over a different domain, such as the sea, the sun, etc. The polytheism is mostly written out, probably per the orders of one of the Monotheistic reformer Kings, trying to consolidate his power base.
The second Creation story consists of a rewrite casting YAW or YHVH as the creator and as the tribal God of the Hebrews.
As you read the first few chapters of Genesis, what you are reading is plagiarism unfolding in front of your eyes. This doublet was not intended to be mass produced and distributed, but was for the Priests to use as reference.
There are several doublets in Genesis, including two versions of Noah and the Flood. Two gods, EL and then the rewrite with YHVH.
How do your Pastors cover this up during their sermons?
