Just remember, that there will always be someone better than you, and always someone not as good as you.

I really know how you feel. Several of my friends are members of the school band, and some of my closest friends I have known that they have played several different instruments for years. While I barely have two years on my guitar. It is rather frustrating knowing that you could have played since you were 5.
However, a few years isn't going to be a difference when your older, maybe around your 40's. By then you would definitely be a fantastic violinist, if your pursue playing. Remember, it's better to start late, than to never start at all. Furthermore, remember what all our old folks say, "I wish I would have done when I was a teenager, I would have been an amazing at my age."

I know it's hard. I started cello when I was 12, and the teacher said that she had 5 year olds who were intermediate players. It got me really discouraged, and then my friend said that you're not going to be the best at everything. It's good to try to be the best that YOU can be, but it doesn't mean that you'll be the best at that paticular thing. Not to discourage you any more, but just do the best you can and keep your chin up. And if that doesn't help, try finding something that's unique to you and get good at that. I did martial arts, cus nobody else I know knows martial arts, and I'm one of the worst in the class, but I still have bragging rights against my friends and such. Don't stress about it. Just do your best.

I am jealous of YOU!!!
How I wish I would have stayed with the violin that I started in 1978. I wasn't great right away so I got really discouraged.
Learn the best you can. Do you know how many country bands would LOVE to have a fiddle player of even modest talent?
When you are 18 or so and out on your own that violin can be your ticket to more fun and popularity than you can imagine!
Keep going! It will pay off! Please do yourself a favor and practice, practice, practice!!!!!

You're 15. You are almost adult, and chances are you're playing violin because you want to, not because your mom made you. Vast majority of those who start at 5 will hate it when they're 12 and forget all about it when they are 18.
I started learning dance as an adult, and when I mentioned it to my teacher that it's frustrating to learn at my "old age" she said something along those lines. 5 years down the road I can tell that she was right.

I tried a fiddle back in the day... wasn't my thing. Picked up trombone and saxaphone and love playing those. Especially love play along with someone who is better so I can learn faster.
