The first Creation story in the first chapter of Genesis depicts the Semitic god EL creating everything. It is a modified version of an older myth that depicts EL and Ashtarte creating different gods over the course of seven days. Each god is given rule over a different domain, such as the sea, the sun, etc. The polytheism is mostly written out, probably per the orders of one of the Monotheistic reformer Kings, trying to consolidate his power base.
The second Creation story consists of a rewrite casting YAW or YHVH as the creator and as the tribal God of the Hebrews.
As you read the first few chapters of Genesis, what you are reading is plagiarism unfolding in front of your eyes. This doublet was not intended to be mass produced and distributed, but was for the Priests to use as reference.
There are several doublets in Genesis, including two versions of Noah and the Flood. Two gods, EL and then the rewrite with YHVH.
How do your Pastors cover this up during their sermons?

Hey Guido, thatsa somea spicy meatball U wanna Us to Swallow!!! Genesis 2:4-4:26 is sometimes called the "Second Account" of Creation. It starts with a reference to the desolate condition of the earth, which corresponds to the early part of the 3rd. Day in the "First Account"; then gives some details omitted from the "First Account"; and then proceeds with the story of Mans Fall. It is supplemental, NOT CONTRADICTORY. Added Details are not Contradictions! So tell me do U say this about Every Book U read??? They all have an "Outline / Table of Contents" and then U get the "Steak & Taters" filled in through the "Story Line", Hello??? John

The first account, was written by artists. The second by lawyers. I've read that there are only 12 story themes known to man. Plagarism abounds. Consider the show 'West Side Story' and the play 'Romeo and Juliet'. How old do you think that theme is? Fiction writers are held to a much higher standard of truth, than any other.

if your gnostic, it is very simple, the god that created the earth is also the god that is the snake in the garden of eden. That is the Demiurge. He is a deciever. He has played a trick on the world to steal faith from the rightful gods. It was one of the greatest tricks in all of history.
Btw gnostics are one of the oldest sects of Christianity. They actually predate christ birth and are some of the people that were setting up the world to see Christ birth. The issue is that the Paulist sect of Christianity went military on the other 2 main sects of christianity to unite the other sects into the Roman Catholic church.

Again, what bible are you reading? Gnostic writings are not biblical you know...
Nothing you've stated is in scripture. Astarte doesn't make an appearance in the bible until Judges.
There are many names for God in Hebrew Scripture.
YHVH is the most common name. It is the "personal" name for God. It is used over 6800 times in the OT.
But there are many many others.
El means strength. Essentially. It is usually associated with a descriptor.
El Echad - which means the One God.
El Hanne'eman - which means Faithful God
El Emet - God of truth.
El Tsaddik - Righteous God
El Shaddai - All Sufficient God
El Elyon - Most High God
Shall I go on? There are hundreds more. All biblical. Are you now going to tell us that all of these are different gods?
No one "covers this up." It's a very popular bible study discussion.

I would discuss it with a rabbi since the text is of jewish origin. There are two versions - Genesis I and Genesis II,a much earlier version that turned up in the late 40's,and then another version. The one Christians got suckered into using is a cobbling-together of two of the three. But again, since even today jews maintain their scripture is free of error and every word intact, carefully preserved by divers scribes, I would think your learning and scholarship would direct you to the folks that know everything instead of us. We is ju' po' country cousins of them folks in da tempul.

Nice that you have such impeccable scholarly credentials that you are able to debunk thousands of years of careful, scholarly work. Care to cite your sources and name what kinds of research you have done? This smacks of the German higher criticism nonsense and is just the sort of thing I would expect from someone who believes in evolution - it generally can be shown to infect the whole mind. Are you an exception, or am I right in thinking you are look for evolution everywhere, not just in the biological?
I would love to see your sources on this, and I bet that I can show you fraud, intellectual deceit and distortion on your part. How do you cover this up in your rants? Why do you waste your time posting so much stuff for faceless strangers to read? Nothing better to do with your atheist, liberated life?

oh sorry, the christians havent gotten around to revising the bible, tying up loose strings and updating it. theyre too busy playing with Christianity 1.0 , especially the groveling levels.
they say theres gonna be a patch soon but theyre not releasing any notes on when itll be. until then players are going to have to play as it is.
there are a few 3rd party bug patches but youll have to convert to Atheism 1.0 to apply the patches. at least then you can run the game without any problems. logic problems, reasoning script problems or absurdity collapses.
also, if you convert to the Atheism 1.0 platoform it comes with a developers kit that allows you to alter the gameplay so you can mess with the inner workings. playing online with an altered christianity.exe is awesome, considerign there are no moderators thatll stop you from messing with other players,
its pretty fun.
HAHAH! that was awesome!

Pastors will tell congregation what they feel they need to hear. Then with startling hypocracy and total contempt for the "flock" they'll use the other next week if it suits thier message.
The message is always "don't think and give us money" .
Reality loves you!
