I asked about a cardinal and Blue jay egg a few days ago, and i have listened to what you have said, and did some studying about birds and nesting behavior. The cardinal egg has not seemed to have any growth, but as i was walking around my yard i found a mother cardinal on her clutch of 3, so i put the egg in that nest in hopes she can raise it, she seems to still be incubator her now brood of 4. The blue jay egg is doing very well, in the past day it has doubled in size(the embryo) and i can start to see veins. I have heard that it is only illegal to keep the wild bird in your house or in a cage, and that it is fine to have the bird, as long as it is able to roam free outisde and has an outisde roost. Is this true? I plan to get baby bird food formula, or feed the hatchling mashed up moist cat food,.
