Last night I took my daughter to shop for a gift. Her friend @ daycare we know absolutely nothing about is having a b-day party. I was thinking of spending no more than $15. I was always taught that if you get invited you should bring a gift as courtesy. Unless maybe they said it was ok not to. Even then I still tend to. After about 30-45 min in 1 store (while my daughter's dad waited in the car w/baby, who was sleeping) I decided to go to another store. It just so happens that my daughter's dad/bf works @ this other store. We got there and he just acted like he was upset and said "why don't you just get her a card and put $5 in it. Are you going to invite them to her party. What if they don't get her anything?" In the end I spent $10 on a Barbie pool my daughter picked out. What I'm wondering is what are your opinions on gift giving? Is he right? I guess we really don't know this little girl or her parents. Although my daughter talks about her sometimes.

What would have been the escape velocity of the matter in the universe at the big bang, in order to stop it re-imploding?
Surely it couldn't be faster than light? And light cannot even escape the gravity in a black hole!
Surely there must be some natural mechanism for this that can be seen today, after all this is only simple uniformitisum.

She became both deaf and blind around 18 months, I have seen the miracle worker. But I still find it hard to believe that she was able to communicate anything at all. Being that she couldn't see or hear. Can some one give me proof that she was able to communicate anything at all.

He got out by accident once before and seemed to like it, so I opened the door for him. Now he just sits and stares at open door even though he won't go out now and yet spent many days tearing house apart to get out again! Is he just a control freak? What is up with this cat?

Why should some one who runs a small server monitor network traffic, or should they at all, and why?

I know that many large companies with resources do it, but is it that important or practicle for a small business to do it. The only reply I have been able to receive was a some guy got off the Internet.

Hopefully someone with security or system admin.experience or education can give me a solid opinion.

I got ticketed in a company car for making an illegal u-turn. They impounded the car because I have an out-state-license (which is current btw) after being here for more than 10 days. Luckily they let my company get the car w/o having to wait on the 30 day hold. They werent pissed about that, because they didnt know of this law either. Heres where it gets horrible.. So my bosses get the car and take it back to the office. My friend spilled bleached all over the backseat a couple of days prior and we were getting it fixed. So my boss sees that and flips over it. Of course I told them it was an accident and that I did it, didnt even mention my friend at all.

So they told me I was careless and irresponsible. Fine. I guess you can call me that. But, it was an accident and sh*t happens. I didnt try or plan on doing this. I know it was my fault, I took blame for it, I said Id pay for it, & I was extremely apologetic.

So the company takes away the car and takes me off their insurance.
