Don't thicken the formula - get a different nipple for the bottles! You need the next 'size' up from newborn - the milk is coming out too fast, that is why he's choking!
The infant and toddler sizes have progressively smaller size holes to correspond with the bigger baby's more powerful sucking muscles. If he was preemie, he's now too big for preemie nipples.
Babies can't digest any food but formula/breast milk until 4 -6
months - they just poop it all out the other end!

"you may hear his abdomen growling at night and that i do no longer want him to be hungry." So feed him. it fairly is undemanding for toddlers his age to nonetheless want a nightly feed and feeding him 'thickened' formula won't inevitably advise he won't awaken whilst he does. ETA: If he's not waking up then he's not THAT hungry. Are you particular it fairly is his tummy growling which you're listening to? it may additionally basically be digestion happening. in spite of everything if he's dozing by way of it then it fairly is of course no longer bothering him that plenty.

The only thing I can think of is rice cereal. it's what most people use, and should be their first cereal, I wouldn't use anything else due to allergies...unless there is a different type of forumla pre-made. Those are usually thicker.
