Do you get lost in a sweet sea of melancholy when you picture us in that field, under the clouds, in the luminous sunlight? My hair up in a 1950's style bee-hive and a torn prom dress? You in a metallic, inflatable keg-of-beer Halloween costume?

A superstition is defined as:

An irrational belief that a magical object or action influences the outcome of events.

Imagine that your aunt says to you, "If you pray to God, he will answer your prayers." You ask her the obvious question, "How do you know that?" She says, "I have prayed to God hundreds of times. He always answers my prayers just like he says in the Bible." Then she quotes you two Bible verses.

In Mark 11 verse 24 Jesus says:

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

In John 14, verse 14, Jesus says:

"Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it."

This seems pretty simple. Jesus is supposed to be God. God is supposed to be perfect. When God says something, it should be true. Prayer should work. So, you decide to try it out. You pray to God in this way,

Supposedly I have an ulcer, but it rarely ever burns. I'm just nauseous ALL THE TIME. The worst periods are about 3-5 hours after I eat, and I hardly eat anyway because I feel so nauseous. I never have heartburn or feel like I have indigestion, I'm just always nauseous!! it's been like this for about a month, but it's been getting worse and worse over the past week or so.

i'm not pregnant either.

The world economy would have to be reduced by at least 25% to even come close to stoping Global Warming but in order to do that you'd have to force them. And most of them are not going to like that, not to mention the fact that you'd have to force people in other countries to make changes which could be impossible.

So if Billions of people are not willing to make the major scarifices needed to stop Global warming what is the point of trying to stop them at all? A 10% reduction in the economy will NOT stop Global warming.

my aunt came here to visit from jordan, my mom is constantly giving her all my stuff(clothes, purses, shoes, my toys for her kids, jewelery, makeup). we're only 5 years apart, she's older than me but she's married and has like 4 kids (and she didnt even finish high school). everytime i ask my mom where my stuff went she starts yelling and swearing at me, then when i go to my aunt's place i see it there. i'm staying here w/my mom only for the year b/c i had to come back and finish my last year of school before i get married(my fiance is in lebanon). how do i make her stop?

Previously a poster theorized that the fuse that lit the big bang was a gravitational force that compressed energy and matter until there was a explosion or an opposit reaction to the gravitational compression. This makes sense but where did the matter and the energy come from to begin this process? before the big bang?

Have an excellent condition '98 Ford Explorer with 206,000 miles. Compression and everything still excellent, not burning any oil, good mileage. Should I switch to a synthetic oil to extend engine life, or will regular do as well?

I know a man who was such a addict and drunk, was found lying under pool tables in bars, he spent all his familys money on pill and booze, his wifes & childrens hearts were broken, one day a preacher led him to the Lord and he from that day has never been the same, SET FREE!
no A.A. no rehab SET FREE!
I believe God saved and healed him.
to date over 25 years later he still is living for God and has a wonderful family life sucessful bussiness and grand kids etc..

I wouldn't.
In fact, I think it would be fascinating.
I'd really like to know more about Pagan holidays, or Wiccan spells.
Nor would I object to my Christian child learning these things. I'm sure their faith could handle the challenge.
Do we think our children are so mentally weak that, just because they are exposed to something in school, it will warp their thinking forever?
Are you as sure of your faith (or lack of same) as I am?
Do you have as much faith in your kids as I do in mine?
