Excerpts from today's Reuter's report:
In a stinging defeat for the Bush administration, the Supreme Court ruled on Monday that U.S. environmental officials have the power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions that spur global warming.

By a 5-4 vote, the nation's highest court told the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider its refusal to regulate carbon dioxide and other emissions from new cars and trucks that contribute to climate change.

The high court ruled that such greenhouse gases from motor vehicles fall within the law's definition of an air pollutant.

The ruling in one of the most important environmental cases to reach the Supreme Court marked the first high court decision in a case involving global warming.

President George W. Bush has opposed mandatory controls on greenhouse gases as harmful to the U.S. economy, and the administration instead has called for voluntary programs.

In 2003, the EPA refused to regulate the emissions, saying it lacked the power to do so. Even if it had the power, the EPA said it would be unwise to do it and would impair Bush's ability to negotiate with developing nations to cut emissions.

The states and environmental groups that brought the lawsuit hailed the ruling.

"As a result of today's landmark ruling, EPA can no longer hide behind the fiction that it lacks any regulatory authority to address the problem of global warming," Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said.

Greenhouse gases occur naturally and also are emitted by cars, trucks and factories into the atmosphere. They can trap heat close to Earth's surface like the glass walls of a greenhouse.

Thinking of splurging on one for our Easter menu - we only host a holiday like every 5 years, so thought this would be a good chance to give it a try.

I got a mortgage approval and got a week away from the settlement/closing table and I lost my job. We had put so much into getting the house and after much agonizing we decided we could still afford it and be financially comfortable. Today at the closing table I signed a document saying that I allow my mortgage provider to check my employment (again!) for verification. It didn't say they would, just said they could. Will they check my employment, again? Is this common practise to check employment AFTER they purchase the house on someone's behalf? If they check my employment and find I no longer have that job, what will they do? Thank you for your advice.

A girl who I work with threatened me today and told me she'd kick me in the b**** if I touched the back of her neck (she has a funny reaction when you do it.) Anyway she said this to me but a bunch of other guys do it to her all the time ( in fact a few times today) and she just thinks it's funny. She literally flipped out on me. Why would she be such a hypocrite? She then asked me to apologize. Which I didn't, as I feel I had nothing to apologize for.Whats the deal?

I'm writing for my sister as I dont have a clue how to help her...Hoping some feedback from everyone will help!

My sister's Mother In Law is a big annoyance. She is a nice lady and means well but she is alot to take. She is actively religious (which is fine-but my sister isnt) and is very pushy in her beliefs in general. My sister is the type of person that likes to have arranged plans/notice and does not like "drop by's"...(she worked shift work up to now w/ maternity leave). His parents will do anything to get their foot in the door, show up uninvited and will not leave! Suttle hints does not work with these people..Anywhere from a 4-7 hour visit every time. She has talked with her husband about this and he says that thats the way his parents are.She doesnt want to put him in the 'middle' but her blood boils now everytime they come over (which is now frequent as my sister is due soon) and its their first grandchild! And she is afraid she is going to lose her temper and hurt feelings.

I had pulmonary embolism on Feb. 15 and since they injected the medication (hepadrin) twice already, I've been breaking out. My face looks like a pizza. They're not actual pimples but look more like cold sores I have some around my mouth, besides my ears and on my forehead.

Could this be an allergic reaction to the medication and how can I get rid of them????
