transported their victims to the New World in slave ships with names such as "Mercy" and "Jesus," where they were bought by Christians, both Catholic and Protestant. Organized Christianity was not silent on this horror: it actively encouraged it and engaged in it. From the friars who enslaved Native Americans in the Southwest and Mexico to the Protestant preachers who defended slavery from the pulpit in Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia, the record of Christianity as regards slavery is quite shameful. While many abolitionists were Christians, they were a very small group, well hated by most of their fellow Christians.

The Christians who supported and engaged in slavery were amply supported by the Bible, in which slavery is accepted as a given, as simply a part of the social landscape.

A friend of mine thinks this is a distinct possibility . He says that one of the Democratic Presidential Candidates, will be involved/negotiate with the terrorists in Iraq, and SUCCESSFULLY get an agreement from them to 'possibly release an American soldier that will be held hostage' . Hillary could do it, he says, to wipe-out her competition.. . . . and Obama or Gore (not yet running, but soon to be) or one of the other candidates would do it, to gain their 'ace in the hole' and possibly appear to be an American Hero, successfully negotiating with terrorists . That's HIS theory.. .. . . . .. but could he be right ? And wouldn't that almost guarantee the victory for any candidate who does ? Only to have it back-fire after the elections and the terrorists get the appeasement they're looking for ?

A few years ago,i dated a really amazing guy,but we were really young and stupid then and it didn't work out. However, we have remained very close friends all this time, and have gradually grown closer and closer. My current boyfriend has always been kind to me,that was until last night...he had made me cry yesterday and the night before, and said sorry, but because i felt too annoyed to accept it then he turned and started swearing and shouting at me like a nutter.I know he gets angry easily but he's never been mad at me.I felt so upset and shocked,i couldnt forgive him,and later when i was lying down drunk,(with other friends) he came over and accidentally poured a bottle of wine over my head. While he was doing this,my ex,but still close friend was phoning and texting me to make sure i was ok,making me smile, though i dont know how,and he admitted all these feelings for me.I'm so confused and i dont know what to do about them?Or about my boyfriend's behaviour?

I'm carer (and appointee) for my sister who suffers from severe schizophrenia. I decided to buy the council house which we both live in, along with my mother who also has a dementia/ Alzheimer’s type condition. The mortgage obtained is using the moneys of which the majority came (and is still coming) from benefits/ savings from my sister/mother. I did not put my sister’s name on the mortgage, as her illness may complicate things. The mortgage is in my name and my mother’s. However, it is agreed that my sister will live in the property for the rest of her life, if she wishes. Legally, where do I stand? What do I need to change if anything? (Can you please email me if you are solicitor)

My husband doesn't seem to know what romance is. He used to, sort of, but now he doesn't even seem to try. I have asked him to touch me and explain that I am a chick and I am emotional, I've tried hinting, he's apparently a romantic idiot! LOL

I love him very much and I know he loves me too, so that isn't the problem. Is there a way to teach my old dog new tricks?
