A friend of mine thinks this is a distinct possibility . He says that one of the Democratic Presidential Candidates, will be involved/negotiate with the terrorists in Iraq, and SUCCESSFULLY get an agreement from them to 'possibly release an American soldier that will be held hostage' . Hillary could do it, he says, to wipe-out her competition.. . . . and Obama or Gore (not yet running, but soon to be) or one of the other candidates would do it, to gain their 'ace in the hole' and possibly appear to be an American Hero, successfully negotiating with terrorists . That's HIS theory.. .. . . . .. but could he be right ? And wouldn't that almost guarantee the victory for any candidate who does ? Only to have it back-fire after the elections and the terrorists get the appeasement they're looking for ?

Listen folks - The Democratic Party's biggest obstacle to winning the Whitehouse is . .. . too many Americans don't trust them on TERRORISM !! This WOULD answer that 'question' .

hmmm...
I think this is called an "October Surprise" and was coined in 1980 after Daddy Bush (ex-cia chief) made a deal with IRAN to delay the release of our hostages until after the presidential election, to help out bumbling old sock-puppet ronnie and get himself in the white house through the back door.

It is strongly possible, considering when on examines the 1979 hostage situation in Iran, that helped get Reagan (rep.) into office and helped get Carter (dem.) out of office. It would be the democrats using the republicans own medicine against them.

this sounds like a movie, i would highly doubt this is so as whoever the candidate would be would also have to deal with blackmailing after gaining presidency...surely the terrorists would blackmail and i am sure all the candidates are smart enough to figure that out so it would be stupid and useless to conspire like that

Hillary is too transparent to get away with this. Anyway, it is unlawful for any politician to make agreements outside of our policy. Any one that fell for this ploy would be pretty naive in my book.

Sounds too darned complicated--and it certainly wouldn't have to be a Democrat.

The people controlling Bush would be rather unlikely to allow that.
