Turgenov is widely acknowledged as being the catalyst for the Russian Revolution in 1917 when his "Sketches from a Hunter's Album" highlighted the conditions of the Russian peasant.
When Zola published L'Accuse," in Le Monde, accusing the French Government of corruption, the article brought the government down.
Flaubert's "Madame Bovary" shocked the French middle class and was immediately banned.
D.H.Lawrence did the same when he wrote "Lady Chatterley's Lover."
I've given up on modern day writers. Nobody has anything to say. What are they all afraid of?

For me it reminds me that we are here to make a better life for future generations and ensure that our species makes it another 180,000 years. It reminds me to do everything possible to educate the children and allow our species to grow and develop and perhaps someday protect the world in the same way that the world protects us.

What is it for you?

Theoretically, Many Christian Children right now are taught that the end of the world is coming soon.
So would it be shocking at all when say, if a 15 year old now, who really believes this, will live to 103 and it still hasn't happened?

Or could you have been off by a hundred years or so?-- would that be a surprise to you, or do you always just keep saying that,
no matter what time frame you happen to be in,
just waiting for and expecting the end of the world every single century?
So will you still be saying the same thing three hundred years from now,
or are you really certain it's coming within the next 20-50 years this time?

My husband have a long time female friend and he calls her late hours and sends each other texts (10, 11 pm etc.) I know he goes outside at night to smoke but I found out that was not the only thing he was doing. She lives in Jamaica and he went to visit his daughter there for the Holidays. When he got back I noticed he was not himself and seemed distant. Do you think he did something that he is hiding from me? We have been married for 7 months and together for almost 2 years. She do not know that we are together, married (meaning he did not wear his ring while there) and have a child. He say he do not want to tell her because he will hurt her feelings. I saw a text message to her the other day that said "Hey pussycat". He told me nothing happened. I told him to end it before the New Year and he said he would but didn't. Now he tells me he will end it by Friday 1/5/07. Why is he prolonging the situation? What should I think?

Innocence

A turning figure in the pouring rain
A hidden face sheltered from pain
The innocent stand here tonight
And it doesn’t matter if that’s not right.

And unaware, you wouldn’t care
The angry world keeps looking on
Wondering when it’s their turn to be
Innocent, again.

And just a careless figure
Dancing in the rain
You can’t pick up the pieces
You lost along the way
Too little, too many
It’s not easy to find your way
And they don’t belong to you anymore….anyway.

A hidden face covered in pain
Standing behind this window pane
Looking out into the world she’ll never get to see
Keeping still in her constant misery
As silently as she could, possibly

Staring out into the pouring rain
Seeing in a hidden face
The innocence she was never allowed to gain

At least, that's how it seems on here.
How many questions do you see from theists asking what "reward" there is for being athiest, or what "satisfaction" do atheists get?
I think that's very telling...

Have you ever been approached by a guy or girl wanting to ask you out, but won't take no for an answer? What is the deal, how many ways can you say NO! Your thoughts?

Think about it, before you answer. Most likely the illusions of hope are the reason you believe, and I completely understand. THAT ALONE is one of the CONTROL factors atheist refuse to conform to.

I bought chicken breast about a month ago and immediately froze it. I took it out for a couple hours exactly 3 days ago then refrigerated it. Is it okay to cook tonight?

Isn't it the same as buying it 3 days ago?
