Electric power is about 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, give or take. A 100 watt lightbulb consumes about 500 kilowatt-hours during its 5000 hour liftetime, for a total cost of $50. So if the energy-saving bulbs are twice as efficient, they could save a few x $10 during the lifetime of the bulb. Sounds like a good deal.

Yes, I think they do save electric. The 22 watt florescent bulbs put out as much light as a 100 incandescent bulb. They last longer too, but they are more expensive initially.

Its a win win situation. The bulbs last 8 to 10 times longer and they are cooler than incandecent bulbs but they do cost more. Over the life of the bulb you will save much and the you are lessening the emissions from your power plant. Which do you want to do?

Some light bulbs do save you some money. Look for the fluorescent light bulbs. They work differently than the regular light bulbs. They are much more expensive than regular light bulbs and they are dimmer, but in the long run they could save you money.

i bought those last year along with some other energy saving devises. and i can tell you that they do save you money. my bill has dropped about $50 a month. although they do cost more, they last forever. i still have not had to change one bulb in a year. i would definately reccomend getting them.

Can't confirm, but that's what they advertise. You can also buy energy saving appliances. Tide cold water detergent claims to save 80% of the energy it usually takes to wash clothes. I've also heard that unplugging your appliances when they are not in use can have a significant impact on your energy bill.

If u read on the bulb ,u will find one that gives u 100 Watts of light ,only uses 26 watts.
