Theoretically, Many Christian Children right now are taught that the end of the world is coming soon.
So would it be shocking at all when say, if a 15 year old now, who really believes this, will live to 103 and it still hasn't happened?

Or could you have been off by a hundred years or so?-- would that be a surprise to you, or do you always just keep saying that,
no matter what time frame you happen to be in,
just waiting for and expecting the end of the world every single century?
So will you still be saying the same thing three hundred years from now,
or are you really certain it's coming within the next 20-50 years this time?

Many Christians who do not agree that there will be a pre-tribulation rapture of the Church point out that it is a relatively new doctrine, first popularized in the 1800s and elaborated on subsequently. There are whole denominations that reject it for this reason. The Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox do not accept it either, as such a thing as "rapture" was never taught by any of their bishops, from the beginning. Instead of "being taken up into Heaven", these churches follow the scriptures (such as Isaiah) clearly describing a physical Kingdom of Heaven that will be on a renewed Earth, following the Great Tribulation, the Resurrection of the Dead, and Judgment Day. For all practical purposes no Christians held to the pre-tribulation rapture theory before Darby in the 1820s.

There is danger in thinking like this my friends. What I'm going to say now is very important so please take the time to get a Bible and read what I tell you to. Please, EVEN IF YOU AREN"T CHRISTIAN!

2nd Peter chapter 3 verses 3 to 4 says in the last days people will make fun of Christians saying "He promised to come didn't he? Where is he? Our ancestors have already died but nothing has changed since the beginning of the world"

2nd Thesselonians chapter 2 verses 1 to 12 says there will be a great falling away from the Faith, or a final rebellion. After this the one called Antichrist will appear, preaching peace. Antichrist can mean "against Christ" or "in place of Christ" The rapture will not have happened at this time and TRUE Christians will see him for what he is. But he will label us as terrorists, saying we are rejecting the world peace he brings.

Matthew chapter 24 gives the whole timeline for the end of the world. In the same chapter Jesus predicted the destruction of the Temple, that has happened. Next he predicted an increase in earthquakes and wars, they are happening right now. But Jesus went on to say these happenings are only the beginning of the end.

Next Jesus spoke of people losing their faith, this is the final rebellion mentioned above. (I am telling you the reason for this is because people will get tired of waiting for the rapture, forgetting God acts at His own time. Jesus says He is coming like a thief, when even His own people least expect it. Beware of anyone who tells you the rapture is on a certain day!)

Then the Antichrist will come. In the chaos of the surrounding world he will comfort people, uniting them. He will probably even bring peace between Israel and Pakistan, this seemingly impossible task will win him favour with the whole world. They would gladly accept his mark, which I suspect will be a microchip implant (Just my opinion). How would you feel if some people refused to be electronically tagged when the rest of the world gladly allowed it, you would think they were terrorists or they had something to hide.

The rapture will happen after all these things because there is no chance for repentance afterwards, do you really want to put God to the test my friends?

The Bible teaches that the world is in a state of perpetual degeneration, which you can see from historical and recent events. The only thing keeping the world from complete chaos is the children of God who are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). Christ taught that no man could know when He is to come back for His own, meaning that no man knows the day or hour (Matthew 24:36-42; Mark 13:32-37).

To teach children a certain time that Christ is coming is wrong. The saints in the New Testament thought Christ was coming soon; however certain things must take place first. Teaching that immenent return of Christ is what Christ commanded us to do. Think of it this way, would you rather be looking for someone you love to come for you or live your own life for yourself and be surprised (and ashamed) when He comes, because He told you to watch?

Gosh, I didn't see this question yesterday but I have to say that if a Christian is known by his fruits then I don't see how Mr. Obama could possibly be a Christian. So the only thing I can figure is, he had to do something to quiet down all of his supporters who didn't like Rick Warren being a part of the inauguration. I think Rick Warren is just being used by him, too, but I hope he has the courage to pray in Jesus' name like Franklin Graham did (when Mr. Bush was sworn in the last time). He was awesome. God bless!

It won't be a surprise because they'll just dumbly keep on waiting for all eternity.

People have been proclaiming the end of the World for thousands of years, from prophets and priests to scruffy tramps with placards and numerous inmates in the asylums.

They are all right in as much as there is no doubt that the end of the world will come one day - global warming, an asteroid, the sun exploding, nuclear war, invasion by aliens, etc etc but the chances of it happening any time soon are VERY slim. The chances of it being "the rapture" or any other biblical mumbo jumbo are NIL.

This rapture nonsense is just a way of religion controlling the weak minds of people incapable of thinking logically for themselves.

Paul says it will happen in I Thessalonians,so it will.We just don't know when.Peter said there would be lots of people that would say just that,"Where is the promise of His coming for everything remains the same as when our fathers were here".
You keep on doubting ,I'll keep on having faith. If it happens ...I win ,if it doesn't ,I still go to heaven.
Actually it really couldn't happen until Israel was back in the land and we have worldwide sattelite feed.Because of what the Bible says about the whole world hearing the AntiChrist etc.

no one is certain that what you are calling 'nonsense' is going to happen soon. i was taught that it will be at some point. could be tomorrow, could be 1000 years from now. the point of saying soon is to say that we don't know how long we're going to live. techinically, anybody alive at this very moment could be dead 10 or even 5 or less minutes from now. so we don't have time to wait to start living our lives the way we should. we have to do it now. so yes, if i am alive 100 years from now i would still be looking forward to Christ's coming back.

I would be surprised if the kid lived to be a 103. When you say Christian, do you include us Catholics? Sometimes I feel like those who don't know any better only mean Born Again Christians when they say Christians. Catholics, and Protestants and everyone who believes in Christ is a Christian. And we Catholics believe that no one really knows when the Second Coming of Christ will be. No mortal is privy to that kind of info.

Excellent question Jane! Many are afraid to ask themselves the very same thing...so what do they do? The so-called Christians start to attack.

Here's the good news once and for all......

I had an accident 2 years ago and the medics pronounced me dead for 30 minutes. Ha! what a joke, what I witnessed in just those 30 minutes opened a whole new world for me.

the moment of your death....if you are a Christian and expect to see Jesus...you will definitley see him. If you are an atheist and desire to be at the beach, if this is your idea of heaven...then bam! you shall see that too! Whatever you want you shall receive. There are some on earth whom have been told that they are bad and shall go to hell. If this is what they expect...they will go through a hell until it is not necessary for them anymore.

God sees more than we do, God understands why people make decisions in their life whether bad or good. It's not up to anyone to declare what God wants of you....you just look into your heart. Don't follow any book.. God is in your heart.

See you in heaven!

Clever a question with your Interpetation,Yes the Rapture will
take place,That will be "The Wall of Seperation " from God"s point of view. Then the world will be in chaos, isn"t that what you desire, most? Everyone will rage, even the family pet will attack its owner.,Because the dread of Man by animals, that God set in order after the Flood in Noah"s day will be removed.Civil Law
will require Brute Force,no compasion.
