I thought avid gamers use the control pads, Wireless remotes, and many other game interfaces, even the ancient Joy-Stick.
However, I agree about the vowels :-), outside of ctrl+alt+del to do all sorts of things, not just a reboot.
Of late I use the Windows key more, and shift for RUN AS commands , great being a Lan Admin !!!

It really depends on what you use the computer for.
Most of my time is spent writing and almost none for games. When Samuel Morse developed the Morse Code he made the most used letters of the alphabet the easiest to send. Since that ranking is "E, T, A, N" that would be my guess as far as my keyboard is concerned.
BTW, I wear out a mouse as fast as I do a keyboard.
