This topic came up once on a message board I used to frequent. I thought it was interesting, and I thought I'd bring it up here to see what people think.

It about the idea that everything was created for us. Someone said that he felt that it was extremely arrogant to think that everything was created for us, given that the entire universe (as far as we know) stretches out for billions of light years (that was the gist of the topic), rendering us highly insignificant. And for those who may not know, a light year is the distance traveled by light in one year. So, in order to get to a galaxy that is a billion light years away, a beam of light would have to travel for a billion years.

Anyway, do you agree with this premise---that it is arrogant to say that all was created for our benefit? I was raised to believe this, but I have to admit, I can see the point in this. I mean, what would be the point of creating it all for us--especially things that are billions of light years away.

Chlorodifluoromethane (CHF2Cl) was widely used in the compression/cooling circuits of refrigeration or air-conditioning systems. Since the discovery that such compounds (HCFCs and CFC's) released into the atmosphere were a major cause of depletion of stratospheric ozone, newer refrigeration systems make use of certain hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), which are degraded in the lower atmosphere, instead. Often, mixtures of such compounds are used.

Suppose a sample of refrigerant gas consisting of a simple mixture of the gases pentafluoroethane (C2HF5) and 111-trifluoroethane (C2H3F3) has a density of 2.27 g/L at 19 °C and 0.497 atm.

Calculate the average molecular mass for this sample.
________ amu

Calculate the volume percentage of C2H3F3 in the sample.
________%

It's horribly cruel but they're too stubborn to see right from wrong. Is it just them trying to prove they're as 'classy' as their female counterparts?

I know everyone is different, some of you look at the hands first, others the hair, maybe the shoes. Share your views. I personally look at the eyes 1st. That and the smile. :-)

I got my ears pierced when I turned 17..late I know but I never really wanted to get them pierced. I'm 18 now and for some reason, my holes are not healing. I've tried so many things to help heal them but they seem to always puss. When I leave my earrings out for even a day, they close up and I'm sick of poking my earrings through because it really hurts.

I was just wondering if any of you had any tips. I only wear gold earrings yet the problem still persists. Thanks a bunch!

The insurgents have members with varied interests. I'm not informed enough to know who all has coals in the fire on this one. Sunni, Shiite, Al Qaeda? Who else? Are there groups of people not associated with any of these groups who are just tired of Americans being in their country?

They've got real leverage over NoKor (over half the food aid and nearly all the oil comes via the Chinese Border) and this nuclear situation directly affects them (NoKor nukes can mean counterpart SoKor, Japanese or even Taiwanese nukes, setting off a new Arms Race that would be bad for them). Yet all they've done so far is support (half-heartedly even, based on their actions the past few days) a bunch of sanctions that are practically useless against a depraved NoKor anyway.

Are they that naive... or are they really supporting (behind the scenes) Kim Jong ill's nuclear program and they are only putting on a farce diplomatic show?
