Here it is: a statement from a member of James Baker’s commission:

•“I think the big question is whether we can come up with something before it’s too late,” one member of the commission said late last month, after the group met in Washington. “There’s a real sense that the clock is ticking, that Bush is desperate for a change, but no one in the White House can bring themselves to say so with this election coming. It’s a race between our political calendar and the Iraqis.”

So, America’s troops are being exploited and used for the benefit of Republican votes. Bush and the Republicans know that the troops are coming out, but they will leave them there to be injured and killed rather than risk losing votes.

Is this what republicans and conservatives mean by supporting our troops?

President Bush, First Lady Laura and Dick Cheney were flying on Air Force One. George looked at Laura, chuckled and said, "You know, I could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy."

Laura shrugged her shoulders and replied, "I could throw ten $100 bills out of the window and make ten people very happy."

Cheney added, "That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the window and make a hundred people very happy."

Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his co-pilot, "Such big-shots back there. ****, I could throw all of them out of the window and make 56 million people very happy."

My mom married my step dad when I was 5. I am now 30. Over the years since they married me and him have but heads several times. I consider him my dad, I have respect for him as my dad not step dad. My mom passed 4 yrs ago and it left a big hole in everyone. Now he fights with me about EVERYTHING. I live in a totally diferent state and still cant seem to make him happy. He is an alcoholic has a full time job but he is just really angry.

What can I do to open his eyes that stuff he did when I was a child and growing up has affected me as an adult (NO there was no sexual abuse just emotional and mental). How do I get him to realize that he hurt my mind and soul deeply?

I bought some pumpkin seeds from Trader Joe's, in a bag. They're "in shell," "dry roasted" and "lightly salted." They're really good, but strangely chewy (I've only ever eaten pumpkin seeds hot, crunchy, and immediately out of the oven!) Am I doing it wrong or something? Are you supposed to remove the shell, like sunflower seeds?
