Evo all the way!
........the new FQ-360 is sittin pretty at 0-60mph in 4.1s
wasn't too impressed with the new EvoX-Concept though, thought it looked like a Celica welded on to the back of a Civic, not that I don't appreciate those cars, the Civic more so than the Celica(which by the way just looks odd without a spoiler - there's quite a lot of middle aged women round here who all have factory stock models).
Can't wait till my FQ-60's ready to be picked up ;) (the FQ-400 has crap handling btw) but I'd still take on anyone in an STi or an evo in my Supra, cos I reckon I'd embarass them lol.
.........its been ever so slightly modified though ;)

You can read most automotive publications to get a sense for each car. Bottom line is that both are very good.
The Evo MR is defintely faster around a racetrack. It handles better as far as grip and agility. It also has a MUCH faster steering rack compared to the STi. As far as power it is actually a tad less powerful than the STi but the difference is so small that it is almost nothing...the big difference is in powerbands as the STi has an extra .5 liters of displacement which helps to alleviate some of the turbo lag inherent in both cars. The Evo interior is also a downside to the car...it just doesn't feel like you paid over $30,000 for it.
The STi has a bit less of the all-around performance of the Evo but a little more in the form of every day comforts. The interior is nicer (still not befitting the cost of the car but hey you pay for performance) and the ride is a little better. Also, the AWD system has a knob that you can adjust the percentage of power going to the front or rear wheels.
If you're looking at straight up which one is faster...I would say the Evo. It is more fun to drive fast.
If you're looking for which one is more livable I would say the STi. It's not as fast but it is a much better daily driver.
Really though you can't go wrong with either car...test them both out and decide. There are many owners of either that like the other car. I owned a Subaru and if I were to buy another performance car at that price I would probably get the Evo and track it a lot.

Well first off, the Evo will beat any WRX. The race gets tighter if its the WRX sTI. The EVO IX is definitely better than the 2006 sTI, simply because I can't stand Subaru's new look. But as far as performance, the Evo and sTI are very comparable. They are always being pitted against eachother, and I most often see the Evo win because of better handling. But the sTI is definitely no slouch. For years, I always said I'd take the sTI over the evo, but now, I'm not so sure. Mechanically the cars are very similar, both are rally-inspired, so they're four wheel drive. They also have to conform to rally rules meaning they're engines cannot exceed 2.0 Liters. Both have huge turbos and extremely well tuned engines. Both are four door sedans with really nice interiors, and both are priced around 32,000 dollars. I've heard the EVO is much easier to drive, but the sTI gives the driver a closer connection to the car. I guess its all about preference. I guess I prefer the eve.

Mechanically, I have heard good things about Subaru. Mitsubishi has had reports of a lot more mechanical issues. This is across all the cars from each company, not just the WRX and the Evo. However, Subaru has been working with the "boxer" motors and all wheel drive for a lot longer than just about anyone else, and as a result they have refined both and worked more of the bugs out. As a result, I would recommend the Subaru over Mitsubishi without any reservations. What model and options is really more up to your taste and budget, however.

I'm not bein biased or anything but personally out of the newest models the Evo MR is better.. I own both cars.. Subaru fell back in the race.. They're not quite as fast with acceleration and although their handling has gone up by a lot, it still lacks the power compared to MR.. Evo MR handles just as well as it accelerates.. Give subaru one more year it'll catch up again in no time.. They're almost there.. Both are aimin at 400 horses next so subaru ain't gonna stay behind for sure..
