I know it's (technically) illegal to copy my CDs. Is it still illegal to copy them onto my computer so they can go on my iPod? Would it be illegal for me to put songs onto my friend's iPod from my collection?

It is for a 2002 Chevrolet Geo Tracker Convertable. I just bought the tracker but it didn't come with a users manuel and I am afraid to just start randomly pushing buttoms. It is a 6 cylinder 4X4.
