They are really expensive, so I am thinking I may want to go used, but I am not sure of the risks of doing that. I am not really sure what I am looking for. I am afraid to buy online, without actually being able to see the item. I live in Maine

If you want to buy used, look for a used sporting goods store in your area. There's a chain called Play it Again Sports in my area where you can get used sports equipment for a pretty good price. The other option would be to check your local classifieds, but you'd get more help if there is a store in your area.

If you decide to go the new route, check out http://www.treadmilldoctor.com for reviews and recommendations. There's a helpful quiz on the site to help you determine how much of a treadmill you need for the way you intend to use it.

Well I've heard that in South America, they got some pretty good mills that make some good thread. LOL.... just kidding.

If price is an issue for you right now, try going to Kmart or Walmart. They have some cheaper ones that are good for the value... but beware about the weight limitations.

Buying used may not be a good idea unless you know the reputation of the person selling. I wouldn't go too expensive until you are absolutely sure that you want a treadmill. You can try going to a spa that offers a free membership trial and try it out for free untill you make up your mind.

I wish you health and Good luck

In a fitness store. It's best to get a good quality treadmill, because of the constant wear and tear. You might pay a little more than say sports authority, but it will be well worth it.

personaly i would look in the local paper... many people buy one then get tired of it or don't have the room and will sell them pretty cheep... if you buy one online or ebay you will have to pay shipping.
