My 1st year of college I was waiting for a bus with a classmate. Across the street was a few students and a sign that read 'Would Jesus go to the Strip' (a line of bars near campus), and there was a place to check yes or no. The guy next to me says "Hey man, you should go put 'yes' over there and piss them off." I thought it was rude and said "Nah, I wouldn't do that. Religious people don't bother me and I don't harrass them. Just because I don't believe in God doesn't give me the right to judge or harrass them." All of a sudden the guy turns holy roller on me. He starts calling me a satanist, and states that I am going to hell, etc. This guy, who moments before encouraged me to make fun of Christians, began harrassing me. I never got in his face and just let it go. Then at the end of class he came up to me and said "God must be mad at you now". I humored him & asked "Why?" He stated "those girls (and pointed) think that you are GAY" I laughed and said "Like I give a chit."

Discuss any of the following questions. I’m interested in what everyone else thinks!

1)Why would an adolescent individual, male or female, whose early home life has failed to nurture emotional and mental needs, seek identity with a group of young people who participate in criminal activities?
2)How does an adolescent individual feel like they belong in a gang, when they have been arrested because of violet crime participation, and their friends have left them?
3)What is the “glamour” of having an ASBO, a life of crime, a criminal record? Why are they strived for within groups, used as a points-scoring tool against friends and enemies? Why are they sought after for validation, success and belonging in a group?
4)“Its human nature to associate in groups. If young people feel they’re being labeled as gang members because they do so, then they are more likely to behave according to those expectations.” WHY?
5)Not all young people in gangs participate in criminal activity. There might be one or two within a group however, that start doing phone robberies and deal weed. Why do they want become feared in their neighborhoods and ruin their health?
6)When in a gang, what is the attraction of having as many accessories as possible, or the most expensive stuff? Accessories such as necklaces/chains, earrings, rings, bracelets, mobiles, MP3s, trainers, sportswear… etc?

Not one person's fingerprints are the same. Nore their tongue pattern, or the gap in between their fingerprints. Even their voice is different from everyone else's. You guys are the only one of you in the whole entire universe, even if you're identical. And you non-believers think there is no God? Why? Can a big bang just make people like that? Nooo. You're part of a great big plan. IM me if you want to talk about it: truly_me_is_beautiful@yahoo.com

Having just read an article entitled 'Gangs', I couldn't help but feel shocked and, quite frankly, disgusted at some points discussed. I just wondered if there was anyone else out there who felt the same as me; ‘taken aback’ or ‘not surprised’ on some points raised?

*Young people may choose to join groups or simply become associated with them because of the estate they live on, or through family and friends.

*Gang members are significantly more likely than non-group members to be involved in crime, take drugs or carry weapon.

*The perceived glamour and rewards of the “gangsta” lifestyle act as a magnet for some disaffected pupil; not one of the gang members in one Manchester study had completed formal education.

*While some young people are attracted to the perceived glamour of the gangsta lifestyle, many more joining for the safety and sense of belonging.

*According to a Home Office study, almost half comprise a mixture of boys and girls, and one in 10 gang members are part of a group composed mostly, or entirely, of females. It is becoming increasingly common for women to be the perpetrators of violence.

*Other features of gang membership may include a common dress code and slang and initiation rituals, although these are more common in the US than in Britain.
