According to Arminianism:

Salvation is accomplished through the combined efforts of God (who takes the initiative) and man (who must respond) - man's response being the determining factor. God has provided salvation for everyone, but His provision becomes effective only for those who, of their own free will, "choose" to cooperate with Him and accept His offer of grace. At the crucial point, man's will plays a decisive role; thus man, not God, determines who will be recipients of the gift of salvation.


According to Calvinism:

The Father chose a people, the Son died for them, the Holy Spirit makes Christ's death effective by bringing the elect to faith and repentance, thereby causing them to willingly obey the gospel. The entire process (election, redemption, regeneration) is the work of God and is by grace alone. Thus God, not man, determines who will be the recipients of the gift of salvation.

a favourite famous person of mine once told a newspaper rep that she thought KAREN ARMSTRONG's books are really good and her biography of the prophet Muhhammad pbuh to be one of the finest around . numerous voices have echoed this .

i had long searched for her books in my town,but..........ya know?
recently i heard that her newest title has been banned in a certain country.
so can anybody who is familiar with her writing please tell me a bit about her or the list her other works? and what do you think of her writings?

Ok, first let me say that Sonny has been to the vet and been termed healthy in that he doesn't have worms, and is feline lukemia negative, he has had all his shots too. What worries me is that he's not putting on weight, he's all skin and bones. He's a 7mo old siamese mix, white with sunny yellow ears, nose and tail and very blue eyes. We gave him chicken one day, and he ate it, but didn't seem to digest it, looked like he just passed it right through. We have recently changed his diet, we went from special kitty to whiskas - would that be the problem? Since noticeing his condition, we acted on advice from our local pet store and bought him diamond cat food and have had him on canned food like you give kittens. He has a good appetite, but isn't putting on pounds. Anyone else have a cat like this? Ever had one? Any serious help or advice is welcome at this point.

I still believe if we looked harder we would find all the things that could kill us in Iraq. I know in my heart that President Bush did the right thing in the war in Iraq. My son was almost sent to Iraq the first time we had a war there. My brother was sent to Vietnam & he still will not talk about what went on over there.

I'm an older female and lately my hair is falling out like crazy. It is extremely fine and thinning and dry and it looks stringy. It is just below my shoulders with long layers (that was a mistake). The other party knows they want out, but he is dragging his feet, he knows he can't run the businessw/o them. They have asked the other part to buy them out or find someone to buy them out if he won't do it. Is it up to the other party to find someone to buy them out or up to them? The other party is business savvy, my husband and his Father are not. My husband and his Father knows that this guy has been stealing profits from thier end of the business, and they just want to get out before they get totally screwed. The business is over 40 years old and thriving, I just want to see that they get all that they are entitled to. As of now, they are entrusting the third party to "handle it" and I am not comfortable with this.

I have two kids from a previous marriage; they are in their teens almost. I’ve had it very rough financially; but thank God they are very good kids. I’m dating this guy that I’ve known for a long time now, he is a really nice guy and he doesn’t have kids, he would love to have his own. I always thought I never have more kids, but when I’m with him and I see the way he acts with the kids in his family and my own, for some reason, I can see myself having a baby with him. I always told him I didn’t want more kids, but I know that what he is looking for in a relationship is kids and all. I’m over 35 and under 40 and it worries me to have another child, I take folic acid everyday, watch my diet, exercise and the whole thing. How do I know that my body is ok to carry a healthy baby? It worries me also that he smokes.
