I will be watching my 6 year old cousin this summer who will be entering the 1st grade in the fall. He is very advanced in his studies. He is already reading at a 2nd grade level and doing math at a 1 1/2 grade level. What would be some good activities I can do with him, both fun and education?

I have looked for months in the paper. but they are all 100s of pounds. i can not afford that much. i would so love to have one. i have so much time to give it the love it needs. i would have a bird that needed time if it had not been tamed,im not asking for one for no money but a amount i could afford, hope someone can help me,

I live in the city of Van Nuys, my son is 9 years old and wants to walk home alone on a main street. We live about 5 block away from school. He feels he is big enough to walk home alone.
I'm very protective and don't want to continue to baby him, but how do I know it's time to back away a little and let him be more independent.
What do you think?
