You better believe I would! You have no idea how many jobs I applied for but never got called into an interview because I didn't have the experience.

It really depends on the job and title. I would hire someone with all of the qualifications but who hasn't had the experience because everyone deserves a chance. How can you can gain experience if not given a chance? Sometimes, those without experience have the best ideas and ideas create growth all around.

It all depends on what I am looking for.
If I need someone to hit the ground running I insist on the experience. Sorry but I lost a man overnight to a traffic accident. He had items he was working, I had to have someone right now to take his place.
If, on the other hand, I am looking for a replacement for someone retiring in a year or two, give me a kid fresh out of school with a boat load of new ideas. I will be happy to mold them into something I can use. It is good for me, If I hire someone who is having trouble finding work because of a lack of experience, then treat them fairly they will be loyal employees. Like I said, it's good for me.
BTW I still remember my first employers name. He gave me a chance, and if he called today needing help, I would respond.

Is a certain amount of experience one of the qualifications? Most of the time employers want a certain number of years of experience - many of my clients run into that problem. They have more than enough education, but not enough experience. It sounds like it's the employer's call.

It really depends on how your sell yourself during the interview. Just because you have the qualifications doesn't mean that you can handle the job. Some situations may arise that you would need the experience to know how to handle them.

No because you can't have all the qualifications without experience. how would you prove that you have the qualifications if you never applied them to any job before?

that's hard.
i have in the past hired someone with good qualifications but not the same work expereince, but it is always a case by case basis.
i would have to meet the candidate and at least go through 2 rounds of interviews.

If they were intelligent and articulate, yes - having the qualifications shows that they are willing and able to learn.

Absolutely. How does one gain experience, if no one is willing to give him or her a chance? Name one person you know who has never, ever made a mistake (or two) at their respective places of employment.
