Ok I am 15, and I live in Toronto, Canada and my dad got a job in Charlotte, NC and we are moving there in a couple of weeks. I am so nervous about moving to the US. I have been to the US before, and I liked it because it's just like Canada (or Canada is just like the US I guess), like the highway signs are the same, same restaurants, tv channels, companies, all that type of stuff. But even though it's still sort of the same, it just feels very different. Like I notice weird things, like there are tons of billboards along the highway, the fast food restaurant signs are HUGE like way bigger than I have ever seen, I notice lot's more trailer parks, and I see more opinions expressed, like anti abortion bumper stickers, anti gay billboards, "God Loves you" all over the place. I know that all sounds stupid, but it seems weird to me because I don't see that very often in Canada. How am I going to get used to living in the USA? I am really nervous!!!

For my wedding reception, each table is named after a state that my fiancee and I have been to, and the favors are related to the state. For example, Indiana has racecars as the favor because of the Indy 500, and South Dakota has pieces of Fool's Gold because of the gold rush in the 1800s. But for Illinois, Wisconsin, Montana, and Wyoming, I can't think of a really good favor (and one that is relatively inexpensive). Any suggestions?

I have never heard of this as a state before, yet I have seen it listed as one in various places, making a total of 51 states! Surely this is incorrect??

My fiance and I are thinking about moving to California in a yr or less, but particularly want to live in San Bernardino co (mostly to be by Nevada and Lake Havasu, family there). We've done research of some of the cities nearby but haven't found what we're looking for.......We are looking to move to the outskirts/on edge of a city/big town, or to a suburban area because we have a son, are getting married this year and plan on having another one, later down the road. I'd really appreciate people w/ personal experience of this county, maybe you have opinions and possibly links. Thank you;)

I was told selling my house might be good financial move. Maybe it is. I don't like where I live now. There are all these articles on where to retire to and I don't know what to do. I want to go to a University town in a warm part of the US, preferably without hurricanes, tornados, or earthquakes. (I guess there is such an area) If it is not real warm in winter, but is semi-warm and maybe close to hot places, it would help. My family is small and spread all around the US - from NYC to Ohio to the SW. I am a widower and looking for a girl friend. My hobbies are photography, computers, naturism, gardening and all that old man stuff. Maybe I will buy an RV to see the USA. My age is over 70, but not much over and am healthy now. The place has to have good medical care and not be expensive for living. That includes housing as I want a house around $250,00 and reasonable cost of living. A good over 55 community with good social life would help a lot as I am isolated here in a bad spot.

you valued outdoor fun (like camping, hiking, canoeing, & biking), lots of trees, mountains or at least rolling hills, friendly and polite people (not too snobby), not too much smog, a good economy for a career in home building or remodelling, country/farm areas to live simply and privately and commute into the city for work, winters that are not as cold as Maine, and sunshine more frequently than mostly cloudy? Please mention if you know of an area not listed that comes close to meeting these criteria, but we don't want to live in the Southeast anymore (nice enough but want something new).
