I am from Chicago so I know I am biased. But not only is Chicago a transportation hub (you can travel by taxi, bus, train (city and suburbs) and they plenty for everyone to do - from bike trails, parks everywhere, Downtown has wonderful shopping for everyone, Millenium park exhibits, festivals all summer long (movies in the park, taste of chicago, blues fest, gospel fest, The Block club party near downtown that is held every year (and quite a few people have met their mates there and married), Skate on State Street (during the winter) Museums galore, 2 zoos, the planetarium, plenty of malls and restaurants, and a chance to experience all four seasons. I could go on and on. But the only drawback to Chicago (and probably the same for NY) is that the winters can get very brutal at times and parts of Chicago, like the trendy neighborhoods can be pricey (but not as pricey as NY). So that is my take on Chicago!!!

If I had a choice of the three, I would say Chicago in a heartbeat. The transportation system there is great. You can get to either airport via the "El." I am particularly fond of the science museum and the Navy Pier.

NYC is the heart of the world. It's huge and there's something for everyone from shoppers, to bohemians, to students. It's amazing. It's also decently close to other areas of interest like:
Boston
DC
even Canada.
