to go travelling after uni? I was led to believe that students are skint what with a student loan to pay back and a maxed out overdraft, yet they go travelling to take time out after uni. I was speaking to a guy today who said he went travelling to Brazil, Thailand etc fter studying. Is travelling not as expensive as I think or something? I would love to go travelling but just cant afford it!

My partner has offered to take me away during February/March (aren't I lucky). I would really like to get some winter sun rather than go ski-ing. I would also rather not do a long haul flight as I will probably be only able to take a weeks holiday from work. I live in the UK so somewhere within a 5 hour flight of the UK would be ideal. As a chef it is also improtant to me to have good food on holiday. Any suggestions?

Here's what I thought. That if you're going to study somewhere and may not find permanent housing immediately, then youth hostels sound like a good alternative, as they're cheap and accept nightly stays. Has anyone tried it while studying?
