How would your ideal perfect road trip be like? Which route would you take? How many friends and for how many days?

For those who've been on road trips before, drop a tip or two about planning a great one.

Thanks all! :-)

I've done a few,

Down route one from Boston to Key West Traveling the coastal routes whenever possible. IE the Chesapeke Bay Bridge tunnel from the Del-Mar Peninsula to Verginia. Then down the outer banks of the Carolinas. To the Magnificent drive down the Florida Keys. Then Back. give yourself at least two weeks.

Start in Las Vegas, then to Flagstaff, turn left to get to the Grand Canyon, from there East on rt 66 through Wislow Arizona, stop at the Metero Crater, and the Petrified Forest. On to Albiquirqui N.M. Take the Tram ride to the top of Sandia Peak. Then north to Santa Fe. or south west to Pheonix Az, Drive the Apachee trail through the Superstition Mountain range. From there go north to Sedona Az. Spend an evening there to see both Sunset and Sunrize. then Back to Vegas where it all started. Give yourself another two weeks for this one.

Another road trip was From Munic Germany south to Salsberg Austria, then through the Alps with a stop at Maltattal and on to Villach Austria. South to Venice Italy, across to Genoa Italy, North to Milano, North more to Como Switzerland. a little more north to Zurich Switzerland, and on to Stutguart Germany and back to Munich. To do it right and give everything proper justice, you need to spend at least a day at each stop mentioned. About two weeks again.

I have done all of these as well as many more.

Have a great road trip.

BTW I made no reservations, No plans other than a general destination direction for the end of the day. stopped when I got tired or interested then continued the next day.
