Do some research about scholarships and grants. What individual schools offer will vary, but I know my university offered research grants where they would give you money to travel if you had a research proposal (doesn't have to be huge and world-changing, just something you can produce a paper about... like "social behavoir at train terminals in europe"), or sometimes there were special language programs that would allow you to travel abroad to learn languages in the summer for little to no money.

If your school doesn't have them, do an internet search for some. There may be high competition for them, but I bet you could find some to qualify for.

Also, when making travel plans, make sure to look into agencies that specialize in finding student discounts for plane tickets and things. You can often get major travel discounts through places like STA Travel.

Two ideas that will both work.

One: Join the Civil Service and become a diplomat. This is an excellent way to serve your country. You don't have to know anything about politics to be in the diplomatic corps, but you will learn things that the average person doesn't know, and it will help you to really see how the world works and why.

You will be sent to Washington DC for intensive language training, and then you will be sent to another country to live for two years, like Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, etc. The government will pay for your travel, your living expenses, your apartment, and you'll get a paycheck so that you can live. You may start out issuing Visas to people who wish to travel to the United States -- or denying Visas -- or you may start out in the management office, or the commercial department. It is a great way to travel, a great way to serve your country, the best education in the world concerning the world, and it won't cost you anything but time. It's just like a real job with year end reviews, etc. However . . . once you leave the diplomatic corps, you cannot ever go back except by political appointment, so remember that if you feel like quitting or setting yourself up to get fired.

There's a simple test you can take and you can contact the State Department to find out where the next test is and when, and you can also get study materials from them in order to study for the test before you take it. It's really common sense stuff, but the last time a checked, the study materials were free so why not get them? If there's a country that you really like, you can request a second tour of duty there and stay for another few years.

The other idea is to work as a courier. The deal is you get a seat on a plane, but you have to give up your luggage. You then have to deliver the package to the person who ordered it, so you're technically working on this trip, which makes it a tax write-off. You're only allowed a carry-on and you still have to pay for your hotel, etc.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

purely walk alongside the Seine, that's captivating. additionally, check out a gaggle of the cool church homes that are regularly unfastened. fairly some the museums, like the Louvre, have discounted fees on particular days or after particular hours. additionally, in case you splurge on some thing, pass to the right of the Arc de Triomphe. It has a good greater advantageous view of the city than the Eiffel Tower. in case you pass walk around the district of Montmartre, you would be pleasantly stunned. there's a captivating basilica there and a lot of little cafes and shops. that's an artsy area too so there are various artists out and approximately.

Work your way around! i never had money and I just came back from a 3 yr trip, spent 1 yr in USA as a nanny, work all over england as a waitress, barmaid, housekeeper...who cares..as long as I had fun and enough money to get to the next destination wherever it was. While I was working in england, I have been able to pile up the little bit of Pound sterling they paid me with and I paid myself a 5 week holiday to South Africa and 1 week in Turkey! Find work on a cruise liner or go teaching english abroad..there is loads of programs offerung that kind of arrangements without ruining yourself or your parents!!!

Good luck, you'll find a way if you really want it!

You can do what I did and join the Air Force. If being shot at is not your idea of having fun, you might want to go to:

Rotary offers a great scholarship program to study abroad.

Good Luck,
