i do not want to spend any money or at least the very minimal spending. i dont want to go to college right away so study abroad programs are out. and the military is not even a consideration. thank you

When you see people going places, there are nearly always people travelling in the opposite direction. Isn't this an obvious indication that they found this place unsatisfying and are going to find a better place?

I'm looking to get into some heavy duty backpacking and was wondering what type of gear would be ideal. I am mainly looking at footwear and backpacks.

First, footwear. Which would be ideal? I see a lot of the brands have actual "backpacking" boots, which seem to be quite nice sturdy boots. Would these be best, or would I be better served with something a little lighter and cooler? I will most likely be hitting some warmer areas.

As far as a backpack, I am just more curious about the size. I see that there are a ton of different sizes, and I'm thinking 80 litres as I intend to take some pretty long trips, would this be overkill?

I sent away for a passport for my son in the begining of january. I still have not got it yet , does it normally take this long to get a American passport? Because i got my Australian passport in 17 days , and that was with sending to Australia and them send it back when it was done. Is there any way I can check on it as we are planing to leave on our trip in 6 weeks.

on credit card... vacation is in a week.. been calling non-stop at National Passport Agency, but it is all automated, tried pressing zero, went to post office where done, they can't do anything...

There is no record... the only way to check is on-line, and it says there is no record.

I know 3 other people who did theirs around same time, no problem, here in 2 weeks.

What else is there to do? Vacation is in one week!

Does anyone know of any cheap vacations? I am coming from New York, and I would like to go somewhere with my husband (we are newly weds) and we don't have a very large budget, so we are looking to go somewhere that there are some cheap vacations. Any ideas anyone?
