that you see in the Corona TV commercials? I've been to a few islands such as Aruba, St Maarten, Grand Cayman and even to Cancun but all the beaches I saw were so so, not picture perfect! Does a beach like that exist or is it only in movies and TV?

I am talking about Schapelle, whats her name the model oh Michelle Lesly, The Bali nine, the terrorist attacks. Bali has definately gotton some bad press over the last few years. So if you were going to holiday in SEA would you choose Bali?

I wouldnt because I have never been so I have no attachment and there are so many other great places in the region that are more appealing right now. But this question was asked in my politcal science class and most people said yes they would go, so I am curious to know what other people think?

Always think it,s funny how some people can go to another country and love it, and others go and hate it.My friend was looking for a break for one week , looking for good value for money, good weather, nice beaches, scenic ect.I recommended Turkey as ive had loads of great holiday in various parts, she hated it!! I was shocked and felt guilty i,d recommended it to her.Where would you never go back to and why? I have to say Benidorm in Spain was awful, tacky ,dirty ,no character and nothing but high rise hotels.Have to add i kind of thought it was going to be like that ,but thought a long weekend would be ok ..............never again!!

I want to go to North America in summer. I'd really like to see both New York and Toronto, but I can only afford to do one. Which one should I go to?

To be honest, I am leaning towards Toronto. My mates went to NYC a few years back and they said it was disappointing; mostly hype and all show and no go. The people are said to be rude and I've heard that restaurant and bar staff won't even do their jobs unless you tip them stupid amounts of money.

However, I've heard Toronto has brilliant nightlife and is a great time, especially in summer. Being in Canada, there is also a certain 'Britishness' to the city that seems to sit well with travellers from the UK.

Any thoughts on where I should go??

Is it by asking nicely and looking the part?
I know the easiest way would be to pay like everyone else but I have an 11 flight and I was just wondering if check in staff have the power to upgrade people at their discretion?

i could borrow roughly $200,000 and just move somewhere. i could pick up a little job and earn a living off of the job plus interest on the 200k, but i need to find a place where the cost of living is really cheap, but is not prone to civil war, shoddy healthcare, and inhuman living conditions. i am not that picky, i just don't want to get bitten by some exotic spider and die from its venom or get stuck in some somalian civil war, or drown in a tsunami, and i want to live comfortably without any debt ever again. i don't know if the country would need to be a non-extradition-treaty country in order to protect me from having to pay back my debts. any help would be appreciated.

I am thinking of taking a long weekend trip(4 days) overseas, either Europe, or Japan to kind of getaway and chill out for a couple days. I have been to Japan, and most of Western Europe, so familiarizing myself to the enviroment would not be a problem. Jet lag has never been much of a problem for me either. I am from LA and would be flying out of LAX, so there are many direct flights overseas. Has anyone ever done anything simalar, and what are your experiences? Thanks for all the input.
