I am thinking of taking a long weekend trip(4 days) overseas, either Europe, or Japan to kind of getaway and chill out for a couple days. I have been to Japan, and most of Western Europe, so familiarizing myself to the enviroment would not be a problem. Jet lag has never been much of a problem for me either. I am from LA and would be flying out of LAX, so there are many direct flights overseas. Has anyone ever done anything simalar, and what are your experiences? Thanks for all the input.

Not nearly enough "bang for the buck," or the time for that matter. You'll be spending more time on a plane and in transit than you are seeing your destination.

Even if jet lag isn't a problem, it still takes at least a day to acclimate to a new time zone. By the time your body has caught up, you'll be on your way home.

And why fly all that way when you hardly have any time to see anything? There are plenty of places where you can "chill" within 2-3 hours flying time from LAX. Mexico comes to mind. Even Hawaii is a little better- 5 hours away.

Save those long flights for when you have the time to justify the torture!
