Are all parts of Morocco safe for American Travelers? What is there to do or see there?

Morocco is desserty, with a Mediterranean climate - similar to southern California. The cities are full of people who will come up to you if they see you're American and try to sell you stuff, but they're much less persistent and more polite than I've encountered in other countries. Just smile and say "La, shookran" (I don't know how that's really spelled, but it's "no thanks" in Arabic) They speak Arabic, French, and English down there. So if you've taken any French in school it will definitely come in handy. The way the women dress differs really widely - in the cities you see women dressed like teenagers do here, and then some have their hair covered. Out in the country they'll have their entire body and faces covered. My favorite part was Marakech. There's not much to see in Casablanca except the only mosque that non-Muslims can go into. It's very pretty.

I think it's safe.....Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakesh...just the names of these cities stir a hint of spice in the nostrils. Jostling crowds, the piquant tension of debate, space in perpetual motion - the minute you set foot in the country you know you've arrived somewhere very different.

Spend a weekend in a luxury riad in Marrakesh, Fès or Rabat, exorcise your shopping demons in some of the most colourful markets in the world, or indulge in some off-piste desert driving over sugar-soft dunes... And this fantastically varied destination is barely three hours flying time from Europe

For a really nice hotel try Amanjena
