Traveling to Italy mid-March 2007 - 3 days in Rome, 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence and would like to start booking tours but am having a difficult time deciding on which tour "company" to book with. I'd like to stick with the same company for booking tours in all 3 locations in Italy if possible.

Can anyone suggest a nice, romantic hotel in Florence, Italy? Nothing outrageously expensive but still charming.

Thanks!

My ancestors were from the Calabria region of Italy (I'm not sure which city). Is it a tourist friendly-place? I'm wondering too where the major cities would be, and where the cultural places would be (these might be where my ancestors were from since they were musicians). Any information would be helpful!

Hello. I am a 17 year old female student from New Zealand. I am pondering about going on a high school student exchange to Italy next August.

I want to go on an exchange because it will give a more global perspective of life. It will also teach me about independence ect..
I believe you can go on a holiday anytime but going on an exchange will enable me to live as a local and see all the things tourists miss. I will get the chance to immerse myself in the Italian culture as I become part of a family and school. I look forward to helping out my host family and spending time with them as we get to know each others cultures. I think walking in someone elses shoes makes you more compassionate and understanding.

I cannot decide whether to go on a 6 month exchange or a year exchange. I know I would miss my family and friends but going to Italy would be the experience of a lifetime.

For those of you who have been to Italy what do you reccomend?

Thank-you for your help!

However I am not sure if the best way to travel is via a tour guide..such as Perillo tours, or rent a villa and a car to see it on our own. The itenary is for 12 days. Advice is appreciated. Thank you

When I say "things" I mean Italian men. There is a fantasy about the Italian lover and many girls I hear talking about falling in love when going to Italy.

I don't know anybody who speaks Italian so I can not have conversations with them, and I also live in a small town so there are not Italian classes offered (nor in surrounding towns either). I've pretty much taught myself out of books but any suggestions on how to improve would be great. Thanks!

Oh, and the reason why I'm trying to learn Italian so hard is because in June of 2007 I'll be living in bella Italia for a year. Thanks again.

My friends parents read this and are actually freaking out about it (they read quite a few other things also though). I have a girlfriend who is going to Italy for a few weeks with her school....it is true she is a very beautiful girl and even gets harassed here in the U.S. where guys are generally less open. Her parents have read all the stereotypes about Italian men and are now worried. We both have told them that they are stereotypes and nothing else but neither of us have been to Italy before and that is something that they pointed out. Any ideas as to what to do about them? Thanks!
