Venice had to wear a jacket 15 degree cel
Rome was dying of heat 25 degrees cel

only know about Rome -- chilly and damp! i recommend dressing in layers and with anouter coat that is suede, leather or other wind reducing material. a scarf is also helpful. used one of the larger ones myself -to cover head, neck and shoulders. came in handy when dining also - could be chilly and didn't want to wear a full coat as it's a little cumbersome.

I found that alight waterproof jacket with a shirt and sweater is great. It tends to rain but can also get warmish so you can take of your coat and jumper if you're warm or pop them on if it's cold or wet.
