Can anyone suggest a nice, romantic hotel in Florence, Italy? Nothing outrageously expensive but still charming.

Stay at the Ambassadore. It's right across from the train station. Clean quiet and in the middle of everything. Great places to eat and get gelati. Easy access for a day trip to Pisa and Sienna. The concierge will get tix for the Academie, Santa Croce and the Uffizzi. Florence is for site seeing. If you want romance, take the Trenitalia to Venice.

I was herein Borghese Palace hotel not so long ago. Veeeery romanitc, it is an art hotel (so they host exhibitions every now and then) with a spa and really close to the Duomo. The prices are definitely fair for what you get
