Hey, I'm going to Rome in May, however I want to do a day trip to Pompeii. Is it possible to travel by train there, and if so where would I buy the tickets from, and how long would the trip take?
Or is there tour companies that do day trips there maybe?

im gonna go there in the summer and the website only shows a picture of the restaurant outside of it. We are heading to Italy for our first time on 3/21. We are first in Rome, and taking a train to Naples/Sorrento. We rent a car in Naples and drive North through Tuscany, before ending in Florence for a couple of days. We have a couple of books and a phrasebook. I would like some advice on:

-driving
- local customs
- food/restaurants (not necessarily specifics, but general info or terminology)
- any must sees, or off the beaten path/less popular experiences in Rome and Florence
- any other advice from travellers or locals is most welcome!

The purpose is to unwind so locations within a 1/2 days travel by train or auto would be preferred. The beach would be best but by no means a requirement.
