For highways, school zones, in towns, etc?

2007-03-14 10:47:58 · 9 answers · asked by Anonymous

I will be spending from April 18-24, 2007, with no itinerary, and no expectations. I want to relax, visit with people, not interested in seeing any more Churches, castles, or Capital Buildings. I have actually booked a Hostel, for the first time, am concerned about how to protect my valuables and Passport. For a short trip like this, what is a reasonable distance to travel to see other sights via train or other public transportation? Would consider renting an auto to see surrounding area/countries. I only wish "Sistablu" knew about Munich, as much as she knows about Egypt!

Thank you, in advance.

Ricky

Is there a train that runs from Munich airport to downtown Munich (probably Hauptbanhof)?

If so, what is the cost? Where do you catch it? How long does it take? Any info appreciated.

I will be in Berlin for only one day(and night, of course). What can I do to make my visit memorable? What should I visit? I'm really into art and photography, by the way.

Or are they planning on getting a smoking ban in public places.

I want to go to Germany on holiday but I have trouble breathing in a smokey enviroment because of my heart problems.

Cuz I have a bunch of friends over there, but I just met them all this year, so we've never experienced this, so I don't know if it's 11:15pm or 12:15pm for them now, if it's 5:15pm here.

I am working on a college paper about the culture of Germany. I would love as many stories or resources about major culture differences. Are they very expressive? Do they drink to get drunk like most Americans? How is the family system viewed? How important is education? Is higher education free? Is something specific served with every meal? How open to strangers are they? How is the relationship between the different states? How are social taboo issue in America seen, i.e. homosexuality, abortions, women leadership, racism?

I would love to have email contact with someone there up until my visit to Heidelburg in May...any takers??? :)
